Created in 1988 (with full official approval from the State*), it caters for pupils at the Kinder, Primary and Secondary levels in accordance with the National Education Curriculum.

Located in Baillargues, a small village 10 minutes from Montpellier by the A9 Motorway, the International Bilingual School has been established in a 17th century estate surrounded by 120 hectares of grass on the Golf course of Montpellier-Massane.

Exams

Baccalaureats S / ES Cambridge University Exams: KET,PET,FCE,CAE,CPE and YLE for the primary students.

Cambridge exams are well known in the French Academic environment and in the professional one. They are representative of a reliable English level and are recognized internationally. Exam centers are controlled in France by the Cambridge Examinations Officer (CEO).

DELF, DALF DELF (Elementary Diploma of French Language),is a diploma, which attests to a competence in French for private or public establishments and businesses. DALF (Advanced French Language Diploma), improvement in skills to a University entrance level. The student with the DALF is capable of following University studies.

DELF and DALF are the first diplomas for “French as a Foreign Language” which are nationally recognized (ministerial decree of May 22nd 1985). They are officially delivered by the French Department of Education. About 80 countries recognize them.

DELE The DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a foreign language) indicate the level of fluency in Spanish of people living in a country where Spanish is not an official language.

The diplomas are approved not only by official organization residing in countries where Spanish is the official language but also by companies, schools and universities all over the world.

ZD, ZMP The ZD (Zertifikat Deutsh) is proof of an excellent knowledge of both spoken and written German. The ZMP(Zentrale Mittelstufenprüfung), is proof of an excellent knowledge of both spoken and written German. For numerous German universities, the ZMP acts as proof of a necessary level of German.

The ZD and ZMP are recognized throughout the world by companies as well as German universities as basic requirements.

The International Bilingual School is an official training and examination centre for

Cambridge ESOL.

From Kindergarten to CM2 Its bilingual curriculum has two aims:

• Oral, written skills and communication in French and English. • Discovery of different cultures and contact between young people around the world.

Teaching organization

• Nursery School –2 to 5 years old During this active period of verbal communication, the nursery classes use the simplest and most efficient teaching methods.

Our young pupils play and sing both in English and in French. They listen to stories in both languages and learn about different cultures.

• Primary School – 5 to 10 years old The pupils are taught part-time in English, part-time in French, always with a native speaker. French and Mathematics in French, general knowledge (history, geography, science) in English. Initiation to the Spanish language from CP (Cours Préparatoire) Initiation to the German language from CM1

Pupils from CE1 to CM2 who are not bilingual in French-English, follow a specific programme

which is obligatory for the first year in the school with intensive French or English

The Secondary

All adolescents, whatever their native language and their level in foreign languages,

can have access to the International Bilingual School.

è Those students, from the classes of 6ème to Terminale who do not speak french will be entitled to extra French classes. These classes are obligatory for the first year in the school

Educational plan • The College and the Lycée are of a human dimension (small numbers of students in each class) enabling the teachers to get

to know the students. • Remedial courses in small groups. • Guided study periods with teachers from the school every evening* from 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.. • Important communication between the family, the teaching staff and the student :

§ Three official parent/teacher meetings. § A permanent update of students marks

on internet. § Individual meetings between

parents/students/teachers and the headmistress.

The college: From 6ème to 3 ème Teaching organization We provide 2 sections: A Bilingual section for students who speak English fluently. A European section for students who do not speak English fluently. Intensive preparation for the Brevet exam • 6ème/5ème : 2 invigilated tests of 1 hour each a week. • 4ème/3ème : 1 invigilated test of 2 hours each a week. • 3ème : 3 mock Brevet exams.

Bilingual section: 6ème- 5ème- 4ème - 3ème

The basic curriculum, Mathematics, French, Physics and Chemistry is taught in French.

6ème-5ème-4ème: Science, History, Geography and Civics is taught in English. For the students in 3ème: lessons in Biology, History, Geography and Civics will be taught in French for those who wish to take the Brevet des Collèges. There may be a possibility (depending on the number of students and if the School Board is in agreement) to continue studying History, Geography and Biology in English. Languages : Foreign Language 1 (LV1) : Advanced Level English Foreign Language 2 (LV2) : One of the following languages must be taken on starting 6ème.

School activities and Extra curriculau activities

Depending on the curriculum of each class, we organize activities such as: psychomotility, individual and team sport, gymnastics, golf, music, tennis, swimming etc.

Outings and cultural trips are also fully integrated into our project: Cité de l’Espace (Space City in Toulouse),Palais de la Découverte and Cité des Sciences ( Discovery Palace and Science City in Paris, concerts, theatre, cinema (Montpellier), Micropolis (Aveyron), Aquarium (Cap d’Agde)…

The school has recently acquired a brand new multimedia laboratory. This new installation allows the teachers to develop a sharing style of learning with the students, putting into the foreground independent work via the screen and oral and listening tasks. This classroom lends itself particularly well to language studies, but is also suitable for other types of teaching. Teachers can use the equipment to transfer all sorts of audiovisual sources in order to enhance and underline their lessons.

Discovery classes & trips abroad

In order to prepare for trips abroad, the school organize « discovery classes » for younger pupils

(Kindergarten and CP).

Every year, during school holidays, the school organizes

a trip abroad for the pupils of the Primary and the Secondary (England, Ireland, USA, Canada, Spain, Germany, Malta...).

Meals We cater for lunchtime meals on a daily basis (Appendix/page 13).

Study time/Childcare Kinder/Primary: study time or childcare starts from 4.45 pm. Childcare is provided during school hours before and after class time. Study time: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4.45 pm to 5.30 pm with a primary school teacher. Secondary school: study time: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4.45 pm to 6.00 pm with a secondary school teacher.

Ø Study time and childcare are for children registered for these options on a yearly basis . An invoice for occasional after school care and study will be sent at the end of each month and costs 10 euro a day (The bill should be settled when it is received).

2 Yearly school fee discounts

• For the registration of several children from the same family (same filiation): The normal fee will be apply to eldest child, the second child will benefit from a 10% discount and any children after that 20%.

• For any full school year payment made before the 01/09/2015 a reduction of 7% will be applied to the remaining amount of the school fees*.

3 Payment

At the time of signing the school contract:

• Admission fees : 750 €

• A deposit cheque equivalent to 25% of the total amount of the yearly school fees.

• Occasional meals: invoice at the end of each month.

• Childcare and Study: invoice at the end of each month.

• All outings, school trips, books, school material, exams, class photos are payable in advance.

• Doctor: upon receipt of the bill.

4 Financial plan: If you are benefiting from payment terms, (fees paid in 2, 3 or 8* instalments) there will be an additional charge of 35 € per payment to cover the extra costs.

Appendix

The Canteen General Information Canteen meals Canteen meals are delivered by a catering firm, refrigerated at +3° C and reheated on the premises. The list of dishes served, varied and adapted to the season, is drawn up each week. Rules and guidelines regarding nutritional requirements are taken into consideration when preparing dishes. Meals are nevertheless typical of those served in French family settings. BIO: as from the 01/09/2015, an organic meal (hors d’oeuvre, main dish, cheese and dessert) will be served once a week. For those suffering from allergies or having to follow special diets, lunch box meals are recommended, the school canteen being limited in its capacity to serve meals ‘à la carte’. Lunch Box Meals Lunch box meals (home-prepared lunches) can be left each morning at the school in a basket provided specifically for this purpose. They are served at noon just like regular school meals (“canteen meals”) after being reheated in a microwave oven. Payments Annual fixed fee (Included in the school contract) Fees for canteen meals and Lunch boxes are based on the whole year. No reimbursement can be made if a student is absent. Occasional meals Canteen meals and Lunch boxes can be taken occasionally. Payment will be maid at the end of each month following reception of a bill.

CLEEBI Le Cahier de Liaison Electronique de l’Ecole Bilingue Internationale.

CLEEBI has replaced the traditional correspondence note book for a long time now. However, it is only for general information, any personal messages or information will be dealt with by email via the secure website www.noteebi.fr (access to this site is made with individual user names and passwords.) Thanks to the RSS on then site, each parent is kept up to date on what is happening at the schoolin real time. You can find

• Different one off messages: dates of the next school outing, the new time-table for end of term tests, the canteen menu for the following week, etc…

• Information which remains valid for the whole of the school year: the names of the school teachers, class organisation, lists of school books and material, practical information, a calendar of school events, etc…

CLEEBI also allows you to be informed immediately in the case of an important event (Weather alerts for example) which may affect the opening hours of the school. New instructions may be thus given, allowing everyone to get organised as a result.
