1
Reopening models represent various tradeoffs...
Adhere to health and safety guidelines.
Quality of learning
opportunities
Time, space, staff, finances
Quantity of in-person school experiences
...which impact members of the District 113 community differently.
2
There remains plenty of uncertainty about 2021-22.
3
A “true hybrid” model is being planned for 2021-22.
Key Design Constraints
Provide a full remote option
for families who want one.
Maximize the number of
students in the building for a
hybrid option.
Avoid ineffective
“simultaneous teaching”.
Enable a rapid transition to
full in-person learning should
Illinois move to Phase 5
reopening.
Initial Thoughts
Launch a “hybrid school” and a “remote school” at each
building.
Create separate schedules and teachers for hybrid school
and remote school; no “free periods” for students.
New structures to focus on social and emotional supports
for all students.
New lesson and unit plans to account for in-person and
asynchronous learning.
Parent choice about school model in early 2021;
considerable restrictions about moving from remote to
hybrid and vice versa.
Assume no reduction in FTE for 2021-22.4
