TRIBES The staff at Knox Central Primary School agrees that creating a positive school or classroom environment

is the most effective way to improve behaviour and learning. Students achieve because they: feel included and appreciated by peers and teachers are respected for their different abilities, cultures, gender, interests and dreams are actively involved in their own learning have positive expectations from others that they will succeed.

The Tribes process is one of the ways we try to do this. The clear purpose of the Tribes process is to assure the healthy development of every child so that each one has the knowledge, skills and resiliency to be successful in a rapidly changing world.

Tribes is a step-by-step process to achieve specific learning goals. Four agreements are honored: attentive listening appreciation/no put downs mutual respect, and the right to pass

Reference: http://tribes.com/about/ Some great Tribes activities to try at home are: Something good – ask each person to share one positive experience that happened during the day. Appreciating others – write down a positive statement, one for yourself, best friend, mum/dad, classmate and teacher. What’s in your wallet? – Select something from your desk, purse or backpack that is special or symbolic to you. Share with the group why it is special.

Absences You can now report student absences via FlexiBuzz. If you haven’t got FlexiBuzz on your phone yet, please visit the website below. A lot of school communication to parents is via FlexiBuzz and the school FaceBook page.
