Principal’s Message
Thank you to all the parents who so promptly returned the surveys that were randomly sent to parents last week. The results were collated with the assistance of Ms Warianka. A high majority of parents rated the school as high or at least satisfactory in all areas. There were a few good suggestions to improve the website such as uploading the minutes from P&C meetings. A more detailed list of findings and recommendations will appear in the 2013 annual school report. Next week is a very busy week for special events. On Monday at 12.30pm, we have our Principal’s Awards Assembly where we will also be announcing the Aussie of the Term and the school leaders for 2014. Tuesday evening is the Year 6 Farewell and on Friday, we have the Celebration of Learning, followed by a morning tea to thank our parent helpers. A “Red Food Day” is planned for Wednesday 11 December. The canteen will be serving donuts, chocolates and other special treats.

Below are the candidates standing for election for our next set of school leaders. Each of the nominated Year 5 students presented a speech to their peers at a special assembly yesterday. Voting took place, immediately following the assembly. Student votes will be counted tomorrow by Miss Odefey and a parent representative. The long awaited announcement will be made during the Principal’s Awards Assembly on Monday.
You may be aware that there has been a NSW Health alert issued for the Georges River since Saturday 23 November 2013. This alert has now been updated. The current alert is: NSW Health continues to recommend people avoid all contact with the Georges River between Glenfield Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Liverpool Weir until further advice. Testing results show that there are no longer signs of contamination below the Liverpool Weir. However, NSW Health recommends that people avoid primary contact activities, such as swimming, water skiing and jet ski riding in the Georges River from the Liverpool Weir to Botany Bay until further notice. Bronze, Silver and Gold Level Awards
The cut off date for level awards for 2013 was last Friday 29 November. Any student bringing in awards from now until the end of the year will not be presented with their certificate until next year. As in other years, medallions will be presented to students at our special Celebration Of Learning. Please ensure your child brings in his/her bronze, silver or gold certificate if they have already received one and are progressing to the next level.
