the vocation that He has given you! I haven't said thank you enough for all of your prayers and support. These past four years have been challenging and rewarding. In it God has been faithful through the love ans support that you have given me and my family. Thank you, thank you, thank you! In Christ,
Adan (Chris) Garcia
Friends and Family, A brief update from the Garcia family currently of St. Louis. We are getting excited about my call to Immanuel-Bay City, MI! I have officially graduated from the seminary and so I have been able to accept my call to Immanuel. Over the next two plus weeks I will be in Israel for a class that I am auditing. This class will focus on chris-tian education, Bible study, and preaching. The goal is to hone these skills even more with this trip by grounding the events re-ported in the scriptures in their geographical context. I am very excited about this trip and somewhat anxious about being gone from Liz and the kids this long. (For the past 10 years Liz and I have only been away from each oth-er for just about a week. So this will be different) Liz's mom is here in St. Louis to help her with the kids as Liz continues to pack. (Nearly all my stuff is already packed!) Please keep this whole situation in prayer, safe travel etc.. We are currently in the process of buying a home. We pray that this goes smoothly and so far it has. We thank God for His pro-vision and trust that He will
give us a home here, and in the life to come. Some big dates that are coming up for us are my ordination and installation. Ordination: St. Paul- Flint, MI. Sunday July 1 Installation: Immanuel- Bay City, MI Sunday August 5 Please let me know if you would like more details about these dates and I will be sure to include you in communication about details of each service. Lastly, one thing that God has been impressing on my heart lately is the im-perative to share the Gos-pel. God has created and redeemed the world, yet we live in a world that does not know Him or re-jects Him. The cool thing is that this is not a hope-less situation for us who believe. Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit to go out and share what He has done for us, and for the whole world. Some will still reject this good news but God promises that His word will still have an ef-fect. I am excited to go out to Bay City to share this good news with others. I pray that God may fill you with that same joy where He has placed you and in

Summer Stewardship
Page 5
“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing…” (Hebrew 10:25).
“Summer time and livin' is easy” the old song goes. Warm weather, vacations, no school, golf, tennis, fishing, hiking, swimming, relaxing, less hectic schedules…all seem to define summer time.
Thankfully our Lord never takes a vacation from blessing us with His abundant love, gracious gifts, and providential care. The Psalmist writes about our Heavenly Father, “He who watches over Israel will neither slumber or sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand.” (Psalm 121:4-5). The Lord’s care is ongoing. He never tires of caring for us.
Summer presents God’s people with numerous opportunities to be good stewards of His manifold gifts. We care for the wonderful world He has given us when we are outdoors. We treasure the important relationships we enjoy as we spend time with loved ones. Also, we use wisely the material blessings He gives us.
There is great temptation during the summer months to neglect the most precious of all our Lord’s gifts, His holy Word and Sacraments offered in worship. As many other responsibilities are taken more lightly in the relaxed atmosphere of summer living, so, too, are we tempted to take lightly the spiritual as-pect of our lives. Vacation plans and recreational activities often replace worship. And we diminish in the stewardship of our Christian faith by letting worldly things take precedence over God in our lives.
In response to our Lord for His grace and mercy, may we place Him first in all our summer plans and activities, allowing adequate time for worship, Bible reading, meditation, and prayer. May we be good stewards of God’s rich blessings. May we all continue to support the mission and ministries of Immanuel Lutheran Church with our regular tithes and offerings given from thankful hearts, even when we are away from home.
Blessing on your continuing stewardship journey and your summer activities.

News From Our Music Director... Pastor Trosien will be leading us on July 7
th & 8
th for Special Patri-
otic services. It would be nice to have some special music to go along with it. A choir will be working on an a couple anthems and a descant or two for hymns. I would love to have a brass group as well. I will be contacting members that I am aware of, but please get in touch if you are interested in participating! August 5 will be Pastor Chris Garcia’s Installation Service. A special afternoon service will be held to welcome and install him, and of course we will need some special music. A choir will be meeting a few times throughout the summer to work on a couple of anthems. And I would also like to showcase our Handbells for this event. Practices will be made to include as many as possible and will be scheduled based on participant’s availability. Solos or small group ministry: Worship services are always enhanced by special music, but it is difficult to coordinate schedules in the summer months. If you are interested in doing something yourself, or in a smaller group setting, please let me know—all voices and instruments are welcome!

SHIPWRECKED The Adventure of a Lifetime
Where all kids learn that Jesus rescues them! Vacation Bible School featured this month!!
June 25-29
Monday - Friday Evenings 5:00-8:00pm Ages: Preschool through Grade 6 in the fall.
Supper Included—NO COST!
The winds are wild and dangerous, the waves are crashing and curving, but yet we do not need to worry because JESUS WILL RESCUE US in the midst of the storm While we are SHIPWRECKED, we will take an adventure and discover that our Savior is the LIGHT that brings us back to shore! IT’S HERE—IT’S VBS MONTH and we can’t wait to see ALL CHILDREN joining us for all the fun and learning! Beginning on Monday evening, June 25, hundreds of children will once again come to learn about the Word of God in a wonderful and exciting way. This summer outreach ministry will leave these little ones with the assurance found in the redeeming love of their Heavenly Father. Plan to register your children and their friends any time either before VBS dates, (by doing so, it helps for pre-package of all needed items and guarantees each students daily curriculum papers including crafts for this adventure) OR at the first evening’s events. On Monday, June 25, registration tables will be open beginning at 4:30pm…...arrive early to avoid the long lines and join in on the excitement that is felt by all children and parents. This year children will experience: Castaway Sing and Play, Bible Discovery, Ship Rec Games, Tropical Dinner Café, KidVId Cinema, Imagination Station, Science Experiments, Object Lessons, Bible Point Craft Island, and end their day at Sail Away Sendoff…….so much fun!!! Get out your life vests and get ready to load up your gear as we step foot on a far off Is-land….”SHIPWRECKED” but yet in the Safe Harbor found in the Light of Jesus. I want to personally thank the many members and organizations of Immanuel for coming forward in the call for help given through their kind donations. Without such caring individuals and organizations of our parish who believe and support this children’s ministry and outreach, we would not be able to continue such a large scaled effort; thank you so much for being part of this year’s VBS TEAM! Your donations make this ministry possible each and every year—and for that kindness, I am so grateful, as are the children that attend! You will find that I am still in need of a few food and product items. If you feel that this is a ministry you would help with, please give me a call and please know how very much we appreciate and need the following items: 160 individual slices of bologna 160 slices of American cheese 15 stalks of celery 3 large boxes of fish crackers Seedless grapes Ziplock Bags—Snack Size 320 per day for 5 day supply Presweetened Kool Aid Canisters Please take a look at what your children will be eating for dinner: Monday: Hot Dogs, Chips, Grapes, Carrots, and Celery Tuesday: Meatballs and Buttered Noodles, Fruit, Carrots Wednesday: Spaghetti, Grapes, Carrots Thursday: Bologna Sandwiches, Fruit, Carrots and Celery Friday: Nachos, Fruit, and Carrots (Each day children will receive a variety of cookies, treats, crackers or cheese snacks of some sort and a beverage with every meal.)
On the last day of VBS, after our closing ceremo-ny, mission send off and awards, we have always featured an outdoor Hot Dog BBQ which is attend-ed by 300 plus individu-als, both of our VBS fami-lies and our area neigh-borhood families. This event is such a wonderful way that our parish reach-es into our neighborhood and community to say, “You are welcome here at Immanuel, You are invited
to worship with us, You are important to us!”
Please plan to join in on all the fun beginning at 7:30pm for the closing ceremony and Mission Send off, then stay for a yummy BBQ Hot Dog at this community event; it will be a great night!
VBS teaches our young ones the importance of sharing the love of Jesus with others. Through a wide range of visual artist-
ry and unique learning tools, children live the stories of the Bible as they come to life right be-fore their eyes. Register your children, their friends and neighbors today to assure them a spot for adventure where they will learn that no matter what life has to bring them, “Jesus will always be right there to rescue them!”

Let’s Get Growing
Operation Kid-To-Kid
When you’re hungry, you probably open your refrigerator to find at least a couple of things inside. And your cupboards likely have at lease a few odds and ends sitting on the shelves. Most of us don’t’ think twice about where our next meal will come from. And I we don’t have
enough, our neighbors, family, friends or local agencies can lend a hand. That’s not the case in Haiti. Years of drought, punishing hurricanes, and decades of deforestation have taken a toll on Haiti’s soil. As a result, parents struggle to grow enough food for their families. Entire communities live hand-to-mouth, unsure of how to produce sustainable, adequate food sources. But we want to change that! Operation Kid-to-Kid is partnering with World Vision to provide Haitian families with drought-tolerant seeds—enough to grow food for the entire family, with additional crops to sell in community markets. Donations also help farmers learn sustainable farming practices, contribute toward reforestation, and help nourish entire com-munities for years to come! A $ gift provides seeds that can grow into food that will feed a child for an entire year. And any donation makes a difference! Add whatever you can to the Operation Kid-To-Kid Seed Packet Donation Envelope sent home with your child. We’re excited to see God’s love grow as we help struggling families in Haiti!
