    FOR

    AUTOMATIC SELF CLEANING FILTERS

    CONSTRUCTION:

    The filter is automatic self cleaning type, with automatic backwash arrangement. It is supplied

    with automatic drain valve (electrically operated motorized type) to flush out sludge. One more

    valve for manual drain arrangement is also provided. Glycerin filled pressure gauges are

    provided each at inlet at outlet. Operations are initiated by both timer and the DP switch. Motor

    initiates at an interval of 24 hrs. for automatic backwash for 30 sec. After 30 secs. the DV starts

    closing and the timer is set for next sequence after 24 hrs. In case the DP switch initiates before

    the pre set time, DP switch will override the timer, drain valve will open and same sequence will

    be repeated.

    The wedge wire elements are characterized by sharp defined perforations with conically shapedcross section. They are a combination of wedge wire support design cores and are non clogging.

    A INSTALLATION AND OPERATION:

    1. Carefully remove filter from packing case. Please note that care should be taken while

    handling the filter.

    2. Keep filter in vertical position, check the filter unit visually.

    3. Place filter housing on foundation as per the dimensions given in the drawing.

    4. Put foundation bolts and do erection of the filters by bolting/packing foundation bolts

    as they use may be.

    5. Before commissioning the filter remove filter element from inside of filter housing.

    Carry out flushing of pipeline to remove any weld particles etc. from the pipeline.

    6. After cleaning of the line put filter element in filter housing as shown in the drawing.

    Put the cover and tight it with the help of nut bolts. Ensure gasket ring on filter element

    and top of cover of filter body.

    7. Fill the filter unit with process liquid by keeping vent open. Once the filter is filled with

    liquid and all the air is removed then close vent connection.

    8. After filling the filter with liquid bring the filter at working pressure to start filtration

    cycle.

    9. During operation of the filter the differential pressure between inlet and outlet of filter

    should not exceed the maximum differential pressure.

    10. Once the differential pressure reaches the maximum limit, filter element should be

    cleaned by rotating the handle provided for the purpose.

    11. At the start up the pressure drop across the filter between inlet and outlet will gradually

    start increasing and after some time the filter element may become saturated with

    impurities, when the filter element is around 70% clogged condition the pressure drop

    will start increasing rapidly.

    12. If it so happens that the pressure drop suddenly happens to drop down to almost a zero

    value then there may be a chance that either the element has give a weight or the

    sealing gasket has given a weight. Stop the lime remove the cover and check for the

    causality.

    13. In case there is frequent rigid increasing pressure drop which will be the indication of

    high impurity load in the stream.

    14. When the filter is working at a given pressure drops and implied efficiency, no

    maintenance is require on the filter. The less the filter is disturb in the working the

    longer will be the life.

    ADVANTAGES

    1. High open area means higher throughput with the same filter dimensions.

    2. Narrow tolerances mean sharp defined filtration range (almost absolute efficiency).

    3. Thick plate material (compared to traditional perforated or woven material), and use of

    specially chosen slot pattern mean higher durability without changing the open area. In

    addition, Chrome plating can be applied for abrasive environments.

    4. The use of support tubes to support the EF screen gives the filter element necessary

    overall strength for high pressure applications, with a minimum loss of open area.

    C. INSTALLATION

    1. Install the Filter.

    3. Remove the element and close the filter body.

    4. Start up the flow in order to clean up the up steam and down steam pipe in order to

    remove any dust particles, spatters, any other harmful foreign particles that may be for

    10 15 minutes.

    5. When the liquid is shown overflow from the vent now the vent can be close and the line

    can be run.

    6. During operation the differential pressure between inlet and outlet of the filter should

    not exceed the maximum differential pressure limit.

    7. Once the differential pressure reaches the maximum limit it is the indication that filter is

    to be take for maintenance.

    MAINTENANCE OF THE FILTER ELEMENT

    The typical wedge wire design is non-clogging type and therefore no dust particles of an

    impurity normally interrupt in the filter element, this is the unique advantage of this type of

    design and therefore for cleaning the filter element from vessel and direct adequate jet of clean

    water if possible in reverse direction. All the impurities will fall down. For further cleaning dip

    the element in suitable solvent for about 10 minutes. After removing from the bath again rinse

    the element with clean water with adequate jet of water. Ensure that the element is dried as

    much as possible before it is replaced it in the vessel this is in order to ensure minimum quantity

    of impurities on the element.
