Having a local business support resource is
critical for our continued success in Belding.
With the assistance from ICEA, we were able to
continue our expansion and preserve working
capital to support our continued business growth. Dan Blunt CEO, Belding Tank
Letter
The Ionia County Economic Alliance (ICEA), through its partnership with the Right Place Inc. (RPI) in 2011, is building the next generation of business success in Ionia County. Since our partnership was established, the community has experienced significant economic growth that has spurred both new jobs and investment throughout the county.
This packet provides a brief overview of the impact this partnership has had, and is having, on the eco-nomic vitality of Ionia County. In just three short years, this partnership has spurred a total off:
• $69 million in new capital investment • 289 new jobs • 2,180 retained jobs • $9 million in new payroll
Over the last three years, the ICEA has efficiently delivered its business services with a budget of $117,000. Yet to help the ICEA keep pace with increased operating costs, we will need to increase our budget for 2015-2017 to $125,000 annually. But we don’t want to stop there. We are also seeking an additional $40,000 for our annual budget – to invest in business attraction that will help Ionia County businesses attract new customers and build a strong local supplier base that can help reduce their operating costs.
If you have questions about the ICEA or this pledge request, please call me directly at 517-374-2235 or send me a note at [email protected]
Sincerely,
Chris G. Thelen2014 Chair, Ionia County Economic Alliance
As our business has continued to grow, having a
trusted business advisor and partner in ICEA has
been a tremendous asset. ICEA has provided the
assistance and expertise to help finance growth and
bring new opportunities to our company. That’s
why we are proud investors of ICEA. We believe
in the long-term economic growth of Ionia County.

Return On Investment
1 The methodology used for calculating areas of capital investment was based on the analysis of 13 varied projects, managed by The Right Place, over a five-year period (2009-2013). Based on past percentage averages of previous investment levels, estimates were built for new estimated capital investment.2 Estimates for Machinery & Equipment are calculated at 43.34% of the overall capital investment. However, The Right Place’s new strategic plan on two new economic areas, Technology and Design, which may have a lower Machinery & Equipment expense percentage than projected.
