Herwick II and daughter Jessica, all of Frackville; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Zamonsky, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Linden and son Jeremy, Vineland, N.J.; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Leneck, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edwards, Cornwells Heights; Mr. and Mrs. John Hatch, Mr. and Mrs. Llewellyn, Edwards, Lynn Edwards, Susanne Gibson of Levittown. lenten services Lenten Penitential devotions will be held Saturday, April 3, at 7 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Frackville. Celebrant will be Rev. Edward Tomczyk. Guest preacher is Rev. Edward Paluch, Hazleton, who will conduct benediction. Confessions in Polish and English will be held during the service, and for children at 2 p.m. and following the service. Music is under the direction of Cynthia Stefanowicz. I had a most delightful visit one Saturday afternoon with Mrs. F, Pearl (Herb) and son, Franklin at their lovely home at 156 South Center street. I asked Mrs. Brosius to tell me about her parents, Frank, and t Jane Herb and the green grocer store they operated in Frackville, Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Herb were born in the Mahantongo Valley and came to Frackville in 1896.Mr. Herb worked at a country store there and when they moved to town operated a green grocer store in the J. J. > '.' Brownie troop Brownie Troop 69 toasted Darlene Church as their biro thday princess at the weekly meeting in Trinity Church Hall. The girls learned to tie knots during the work session, and were advised to return cookie sheets on April 5. Ser- ving as flagbearers for the opening ceremonies were Andrea Treshock and Renee Pelina. The' guards were Angela Elsavage and Darlene Church. The caller was Denise Bolinsky. Rotary Club A film describing modern highway construction, was presented at the meeting of the Frackville Rotary club through the courtesy of Modem Talking Picture Service. It depicted what it takes and how it's done in the outlay and construction of the mod- em highways of today, so necessary to ke~PJpace with the economy, population growth and increased traffic. With the increase in motor buses, passenger vehicles, recreational vehicles and in- tercity freight, the film stressed the need for interstate highways and turnpikes. Shown in the outline was the beginning of the planning, selection of sights, property appraisals, bidding of con- tractors, reliability with the selected materials and equipment and the necessity for the safety and preservation of the environment. Frank Zaylskus gave an interesting report on the trip he and his wife recently enjoyed to the Canary Islands. Charles Adukaitus said plans were being advanced for the .proposed trip to .see the Phillies-San Francisco Giants game on June 16, at Veterans Stadium, Philadelphia. Make Up meetings were reported by William Kellett who attended sessions at St. Joseph, Mo. and at the Cameron Rotary Club, Mo. Mr. Kellett and his wife visited their 'son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James ,Kellett and family. Cub Pack 790 Feats of legerdemain by Mr. Magic charmed Frackville Cub, Pack 790 at their March gathering in Zion Lutheran Hall.
