I am the bread of life.

He who comes to me will never

John 6:35

WELCOME, ANNOUNCEMENTS

WELCOME TO KING OF GLORY LUTHERAN CHURCH We are so glad you chose to worship this morning with us. We were chartered in 1976. We first met for worship in a Highway 17 storefront until we were gifted with this land to build on. There is an After School Mission which is part of our ministry here. If you have questions, please ask, and we’ll find you some folks who can offer information and answers. If you desire information about becoming a member, please speak with Pastor Wayne.

WORSHIP TODAY Everything necessary to follow the service of worship today is found in this worship guide. THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

All who are baptized and profess Jesus Christ as Lord are encouraged to commune. Young children who have not received communion instruction are invited to come forward to receive a blessing. The ushers will help to direct movement to and from the altar. If you are unable to

come forward for any reason, alert an usher, and we will bring the sacrament to you. To receive the wine take a wine glass from the tray as it is offered. Those who cannot drink wine because of health reasons may take a cup of white grape juice from the center of the tray as it passes. Also, gluten free wafters are available. Just ask the pastor.

HEARING DEVICES Individual amplifiers are available for use during our worship services. Please see an usher if you would like to use one of these devices.

SOUND SYSTEM ALERT Because of interference with our sound system, we ask worshipers to turn off all cell phones, pagers, and alarm watches as you enter the sanctuary.

A WEEKLY HERALD was offered as you entered the sanctuary this morning which includes congregational news and a calendar of events. Please take it home and find ministry opportunities to guide your Christian call to serve this week.

CALL TO WORSHIP

L Come, Holy Spirit.

C Fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and we shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth.

O God instruct the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit. Through the same Spirit help us to cherish what is right, to be truly wise and ever rejoice in your consolations. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen

GREETING

P The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

C And also with you.

GATHERING HYMN ELW #632 O God, Our Help in Ages Past

PRAYER OF THE DAY

L Gracious God, your blessed Son came down from heaven to be the true bread that gives life to the world. Give us this bread always, that he may live in us and we in him, and that, strengthened by this food, we may live as his body in the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

C Amen (We sit.)

First Reading: 1 Kings 19:4-8 4[Elijah] went a day ’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a solitary broom tree. He asked that he might die: “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my ancestors.”5Then he lay down under the broom tree and fell asleep. Suddenly an angel touched him and said to him, “Get up and eat.” 6He looked, and there at his head was a cake baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again. 7The angel of the Lord came a second time, touched him, and said, “Get up and eat, otherwise the journey will be too much for you. ” 8He got up, and ate and drank; then he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God.

L Word of God, word of life. C Thanks be to God!

TIME WITH THE CHILDREN

All children are encouraged to come forward

at the invitation of the pastor.

Second Reading: Ephesians 4:25--5:2 25So then, putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another. 26Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27and do not make room for the devil. 28Thieves must give up stealing; rather let them labor and work honestly with their own hands, so as to have something to share with the needy. 29Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption. 31Put away from you all bit-terness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, 32and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiv-ing one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you. 5:1Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, 2and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragr ant offering and sacrifice to

God.

L Word of God, word of life. C Thanks be to God!

HYMN ELW #515 Break Now the Bread of Life

APOSTLES’ CREED P Living together in trust and hope, we confess our faith. C I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God ’s only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

WORDS OF INSTITUTION

P In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying This cup is the new covenant in my blood, Shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

P Lord, remember us in your kingdom, and teach us to pray.

C Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen

COMMUNION

COME TO THE BANQUET FOR ALL IS NOW READY

(The Lay Eucharistic Ministers come to the altar in preparation for taking communion to those unable to worship with us.)

P Let us pray. Compassionate God,

C as Jesus called disciples to follow him, bless those who go forth to share our word and sacrament with those who are unable to worship with us. May these gifts be signs of our love and prayers, that through the sharing of the body and blood of Christ, all may know your grace and healing revealed in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Message to Congregation

In an effort to ensure your health and the health of others, we offer these guidelines for our reopening to indoor worship. Things will feel and look different. We shall be flexible and change these guidelines adapting to any changes recommended by CDC or SCDHEC or SC Synod guidance.

If you feel sick or question a possible illness, please go home now.

We encourage you to take responsibility for your health and the health of others and trust that you have brought your own protective devices. Each person is responsible for picking up a worship guide and Weekly Herald before entering the worship space.

Offering plates are placed inside the sanctuary to receive offering envelopes. The doors to the sanctuary will remain open for air flow and to eliminate the need to use the door handles.

During the service we will continue the Sharing of the Peace.

Prior to communion the pastor and assistant will thoroughly wash their hands before preparing the element. Ushers will direct one section at a time.
