    REFLECTION:

The Gospel of John, Chapter 6 starts with the

multiplication of loaves and fish. The crowd

followed Jesus because he healed several peo-

ple. Thus, the elders among the Jews wanted to

kill him because he not only healed on a Sab-

bath day; he also “called God his own father,

making himself equal to God”. Chapter 6 con-

tinues with the crowd following Jesus across

the sea, searching for him. When they found

him, they asked for a sign that they might see

and believe in him. This was when Jesus

started telling the crowd about the “bread of

life”, saying “I am the bread of life; whoever

comes to me will never hunger, and whoever

    believes in me will

    never thirst.” Then

    he also said, “For

this is the will of my

    Father, that everyone

    who sees the Son

    and believes in him

    may have eternal

    life....” Further on,

    J e s u s s a i d ,

    “Everyone who lis-

    tens to my Father

    and learns from him

comes to me.” After this discourse

    on the “bread of

    life”, many of his

disciples left. They did not understand it when

Jesus said “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks

    my blood has eternal life

    (Reflection - Cont’d from P2)

...because I do not like the leaders? Am I one

    who always declines to

    witness and testify to the

    good things that the

    Lord has done in my

life? Am I one who does

    not accept a leadership

    position because I am

    afraid of failure and re-

jection? Am I one who is willing

    to serve in community in

    gratitude for both the

    blessings and trials that

    have come my way since

    my Encounter and LSS

    because I have since be-

    come a better person?

    Am I open to fraternal

    correction? Am I forgiv-

    ing and tolerant of my

    brothers and sisters in

    community? Am I one

    who stays in community

    because I want to learn

    more about my faith and

my God? Am I one who

    willingly serves in minis-

    try because I want to

    contribute to the spiri-

tual growth and development of brothers and

sisters? Am I one who tries my best to joyfully serve in

the ministry as discerned by the leaders be-

cause I believe that their decisions are led by

the Holy Spirit? Am I one who intends to stay

and serve in community in any small capacity

because I have come to believe in Jesus and in

His promises? Am I one who stays in commu-

    nity so that my

    children will wit-

    ness my faithful-

    ness to the church

    in the hope that

    they will follow

    the church’s

    teachings even

    after I am gone?

    Am I a disciple of

    Jesus who listens

    to the teachings

    of the church and

    its leaders, and

    lives accordingly?

    Do I hunger and

    thirst for the Liv-

    ing Bread that is

    Jesus Christ be-

    cause I feel and

    see His presence

    in my life and in

    others as well?

    Do others see

    Jesus in me, and

    do I see Jesus in

    others, in com-

    munity and out-

    side of my com-

    munity? Do I be-

lieve in Jesus Christ and trust in His Word? What kind of a follower am I?

    PROMISE:

“They shall all be taught by God.”

    (Jn 6:45b)

Am I one who is willing to

serve in community in gratitude for

    both the blessings and

trials that have come my way?

There’s an ocean of difference between “being serious about faith” and “being serious about

life.” That’s what we all learned during our Quebec Pilgrimage Tour last weekend. To be sure, this Pilgrimage

The bus air-conditioner broke down, but thanks to Faye Arellano (ME13), we were all given bags of ice to cool down our body tem-peratures...and more importantly...keep the comedy fresh!

As we were stuck in traffic, Joey Linsao did what he does best: he managed expec-tations, fulfilled dreams, gave hope to the hopeless :) < and brought out the best in everyone!
