TRANSCRIPT
Issue 6, Week 2, Term 2
Monday 7th May 2018
Dear Parents, Community Members, Staff and Students
Welcome back from holidays! I hope everyone had an enjoyable break filled with lots of family time.
For your Year 3 & 5 children NAPLAN is just around the corner. NAPLAN is often focused on in the media
and I am sure students and their families will not be able to escape this. As a school, NAPLAN results are
used to track student progress individually and as a cohort. We use results to cater for student needs and also
to focus the direction we are taking at school (you will see evidence of this in our School Business Plan and
School Report).
As parents, you are the main influence in the development of self-belief within your children. What
you say, either positive or negative, can have a long-lasting effect on your children because they
believe you. It is important that students do their best in NAPLAN tests. Please encourage your children to
believe in themselves and try their absolute hardest. Our teachers have been working hard this year to
prepare our students to achieve their best. It is imperative however that you understand that preparation for
NAPLAN has not just occurred this year – it is a reflection of the entirety of your child’s education. Good
luck to all students sitting NAPLAN from 15th
May.

PPP Seminars for Parents
All parents want to have a positive relationship with their child. Sometimes this can be challenging when
children are demanding, disobedient, defiant, throw temper tantrums or are generally disruptive.
Parents are invited to attend free parenting seminars to learn:
Triple P suggests simple routines and small changes that can make a big difference to your family.
Each 2 hour seminar includes a presentation and an open discussion and question time.
Please see flyer attached for more information.
Uniform
Unfortunately the current microfibre sports jacket is being discontinued and will therefore not be available
for purchase. This requires the P&C, school, School Board and community to find and endorse a similar
jacket to be placed on the uniform list. Tanja Spurr (P&C Uniform Co-ordinator) has researched several
options. Please have a look at the options below before the P&C meeting so a decision can be made and
taken to the School Board.
Option 1
This jacket will be in bottle green, white and black (not the colours shown to the right).
First order: minimum of 50 units + 10% surcharge or 100 units and no surcharge.
Price per item: Child $33.35 + Logo $3= 36.35 plus 10% surcharge, final price
will be $39.98
Or: if we order 100 units each time: Child $33.35 + logo $3 = $36.35
We would have to consider placing a 5% surcharge of each jacket to cover the
surcharge of additional orders.
There is a minimum of 5 units per size!
All orders after the first one; minimum of 50 units plus 10% surcharge or, 100
units and no surcharge.
Made to order will take 12 weeks to make each time we order.
Option 2
Minimum order: is 10 items of total uniform items with logos embroidered per
order (for example 5 polos and 5 sports jackets).
No minimum number of each size required to be ordered each time.
Child: $23.55 + logo $6.14 (if we order less than 25 items) = $29.69
All prices include GST.
Option 3
We design our own custom made jacket in bottle green, white and black. Made to
order takes 12 weeks from order date to delivery. Prices are the same as option 1.
Only difference is that we need to order 100 units the first order.
Cross Country Training
This Term, Alanna White will be running Cross Country for Active Afterschool Sports. Sessions will be

Week 1
Year 1/2 Class
Last Friday our class celebrated May the Fourth (May the Force) as Star Wars Day. To team with our class
theme we dedicated the whole day to Star Wars. Miss Hewett and Miss Ward dressed up as Darth Vadar and
we got to make our own headbands to become either Yoda or Princess Leia. We watched a video that kids
our age made about their own Star Wars adventure before creating our own journey into space. We then
created our own design of R2D2. We changed our names for the day to use our Star War versions. In the
afternoon, we learnt all out how day and night is created through the moon and the sun, and created some
moon craft.
