Using books and magazines

Here’s a rule of thumb for books: Pick a random page, if you find around 5 words you’re unfamiliar with, keep it. If you find over 10 words you’re unfamiliar with, pick a different book.-Challenge yourself to only use context to understand the readings -Read translations of books you know well

-The Dwarf by Cho-Se Hui (난장이가 쏘아 올린 작은 공)-Use google to find English blogs of things you like, comment on the blogs if you feel confident-Visit newspaper websites Korea Times, New York Times,

Find a language exchange through Craigslist or meetup

Don’t be embarrassed, it takes time and lots of failure before you will be comfortable

What will you do doing self-study for this class?

example 1: I want to watch 24 and understand 75% of the dialog. I will achieve this by spending 4 hours per week watching 24 with and without subtitles

example 2: I want to have a comfortable conversation with a native speaker. I will accomplish this by having a language exchange 2 hours a week and making practice dialogs.
