What Does the Resurrection Mean for Today?
We have been sharing the various scripture texts that tell the story of
the resurrection of Jesus.
But what really did the resurrection mean?
Yes there was a physical resurrection of his body, which now was a
glorified body that could appear or disappear, that could be touched or held, and that could eat and drink.
But the Resurrection of Jesus also meant He could be with us all, across the whole world. Jesus would still
be our true provider, Jesus would still be our guide and comfort, Jesus would still do miracles, and Jesus
would still be our intimate friend of friends. Jesus would still connect us with God, the Father. That is if we
would obey Him and hear Him.
But there is something greater yet! On the road to Emmaus we learned an important lesson that suffering is
necessary and a real part of life. Who loves a spouse, a child, a friend, and does not suffer for them?
Suffering is an honor in life and it reveals the very nature of Christ’s love.
Yet our world seeks after success and Christians are no different, success looks and feels good. But we are
called to love and worship Jesus, and that does mean suffering for him. At first as Christians we do not like
suffering but see it as a real problem. The early disciples learned to suffer for their faith, but they were then
all the more intimate with Jesus in their suffering.
As your interim pastor who has served for a time here, one year, as it seems right to
do, I would like to encourage you not to compare yourself to another church or to
ever look down on yourself, or put yourself down. Over the last couple of weeks
people have said, “Thanks Ron for putting up with us.” Dear friends that is not right,
you may not fully know it but I have loved you and everyone in this congregation.
Just because you are God’s children and because God is at work in you. So it has
been a very meaningful year to be with you. I trust some seeds were planted and now
a new person comes to plant others seeds among you. I truly have enjoyed everyone,
and Karleen and I will miss being ones who care for you in person.
Jesus is Lord alone. So as you continue to follow Him and move forward with him,
and intimately get to know His love for you, please practice total surrender to His
ways. Worship as He wants you to worship, give as He wants you to give, love one
another like he wants you to love one another.
The Real Meaning of the Resurrection is that Jesus has set you free to live outside of what you need, to
be in Him alone, He is more than enough! Jesus has given you a new wide space to live and He wants
you to enjoy that new life of complete forgiveness and freedom to love Him without limiting yourself, as
He has fully loved us and loves us still!
“I came that you might have life and have it abundantly!” John 10:10b

April Council Meeting Highlights
Financial Report for Christ Lutheran Thru
March 2016
Our general offerings for March was $20,367, but this was a
during the season of Holy Week and Easter. Last year our
March offering was $21,165. Our expenses for the month were
very high because we had three pay periods (compared to the
usual two) for staffing that all happen in one month. There was
also the giving of benevolence for February and March that
was paid out in the month of March.
Our accounting firm CLA also did a correction in our financial
reports that was adding our interests from the savings twice a
month instead of just once. Our total expenses then for March
was $36,107 which is far
higher than normal $22,000 per month.
The finance committee and church council are taking a careful
look at what CLA has done in the last year and what recom-
mendations we may have for how to do the book keeping.
We are going to have to have regular generous giving for the
spring and summer. Let’s remember to be
faithful and cheerful stewards of the abundance that God has
given us.
Thanks the Finance Committee,
Pastor Ron Boettner, Denny Grenell, and Zach Eckhoff
Monthly council minutes
are available on the

*Members of Christ Lutheran will be going to the Ronald McDonald House on 6/7 to serve
*Skye Heupel updated the council on the projection system. It was decided to ask the new pastor prior to making a decision.
*Inspiration Point is the benevolence for May.

How were you introduced to Christ Lutheran?
We moved to Loretto from Saint Louis Park in 2000 and were searching for a small friendly church close to
home. Spotted Christ Lutheran on a drive through Maple Plain.
How long have you been attending Christ Lutheran?
We became members the same day baby Sam was baptized in early 2003.
What is your earliest memory of Christ Lutheran?
When Pastor Garwick pronounced Sam a Child of God and a member of Christ Lutheran Church, he pointed
out that Sam was the first Rietow to become a member of the church, since his baptism was before our
announcement. Sam gets a kick out of that story!
It takes me 10 minutes to get to church. Unless there's a train. Or deer or turkeys in the road!
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do?
As a family we like camping, hiking, biking and baseball games. I also like taking long walks with our Bassett-
doodle Daisy.
What is something you can share that most people would not know about you?
I was a Pom-Pom Girl at Robbinsdale High School. (Yes, I did the splits!)
What is your favorite bible verse?
John 14:27. "I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the
world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid."
Why is that your favorite verse?
It is a beautiful reminder of all the gifts we receive from Jesus. Especially Peace.
How have you used your God given talents here at Christ Lutheran?
I have taught Sunday school, was Superintendent, am learning about Alpha and most recently served on the Call
Committee.
Share a great story about Christ Lutheran or something great you have seen here. I really love how this congregation has embraced all the children, big and small. Especially everyone's buddy, Pierce.
We have two special needs nephews and I often pray that their congregation is as loving and understanding as ours.
