univErSiTy CaMPuS COnSiDEraTiOn – The HrCa has set up a series of community information meetings regarding the request of Colorado Christian university to purchase a portion

of Planning area E in the Backcountry Wilderness area from the HrCa. a list of dates is provided on the front page of this newsletter. no decisions have been made by the HrCa with regard to this request. a link on the right side of the HrCa’s home page, HrCaonline.org, is under Community news and has information, meeting dates, maps, frequently asked questions, documents, etc. information on the link will be updated periodically.

vOLunTary PrEFErrED PrOviDEr TraSH anD rECyCLing SErviCES PrOgraM – The HrCa is continuing to work with a trash and recycling services provider in developing a contract to provide a voluntary trash and recycling services program for Highlands ranch. That agreement is not yet complete at the time of printing. in november the HrCa District Delegates recommended that the HrCa Board of Directors negotiate with a preferred provider for trash and recycling services. a component of that recommendation includes zones for trash and recycling services in Highlands ranch. That may require changing the day of service in some neighborhoods if the agreement is finalized. More information will be available and updates made in the newsletter as well as on the HrCa web site. The advantages of a program such as this are lower monthly fees for homeowners who choose to participate, trash trucks only being in a neighborhood one day per week, single stream recycling included, no fuel surcharges or environmental fees. The major disadvantage is that trash service days may change in some neighborhoods. This program won’t apply in subassociation areas that currently have a consolidated trash removal program for the subassociation.

THE january FiTnESS ruSH – as you might imagine, the HrCa recreation centers get busy in january. remember to be courteous while you work out for those new year’s resolutions. Part of our mission is for our members to enjoy our facilities and programs. if you have suggestions for us, please feel free to contact us or fill out a suggestion form at any recreation center. if you need a little help getting started on your exercise regime, we have personal trainers that can help tailor a program to meet your goals.

WinTEr CuLTuraL SEriES – if you like high quality cultural programs at a low price, you won’t want to miss the Highlands ranch Cultural affairs association upcoming series. Quality talent is available right here in Highlands ranch at a very reasonable fee and you don’t need to travel very far to enjoy culture. it’s all right here as we build the lifestyle that you want to live.

TOWn CEnTEr nOrTH iCE Park – Have you tried the new synthetic ice skating rink in Town Center north? if you haven’t, you are missing out on the ranch’s newest amenity. The new rink is available for public skating, learn to skate programs, and is also available for reservations and birthday parties. This project was funded by a preferred marketing agreement between Qwest and the HrCa and most importantly, without homeowner assessments.

Happy new year!

2010 BuDget|hrcaThe Board Corner is being replaced this month with the 2010 Budget. the Board corner will return in February.

The annual budget for the Highlands ranch Community association, inc. (HrCa) is a financial and operational document that is designed to carry out the obligations of the HrCa. The annual budget also follows the policies of the Board of Directors which reflects the requests for services and facilities by the members.

The HrCa budget anticipates the level of services to be provided, the costs of doing so, and the funds that will be available to provide these services. Types of services and facilities provided are determined by the Community Declaration. The Board of Directors determines the level of service with input from membership, committees and Delegates. The complete 2010 budget is online at HrCaonline.org.
