On november 20 the HrCa Board of Directors unanimously adopted the 2013
HrCa Budget. Please note that there will be no change in the annual combined
(recreation and administrative) assessment of $508 or $127 due quarterly.
administrative assessment properties (Gleneagles, The retreat, The Villages, Silver
Mesa, Gold Peak and Commercial properties) will only be invoiced once a year for the
2013 annual assessment amount of $21.
Happy new year to you and your family from HrCa! I wish
you all a prosperous and peaceful 2013! Please take a look at
our classes and programs to help you with your new year’s
resolutions!
HrCa has a new year’s resolution of its own in 2013. The Covenants Department
is changing its name to “Community Improvement Services” which better identifies
its mission. With the name change comes a number of improvements that will allow
the department to streamline operations and extend better customer service to our
residents and commercial stakeholders. The new duties and community outreach that the
department will be implementing in the coming year will be directly tied to a partnership
with neighborhoods and businesses. The goal is to be a friendly and helpful partner that
will be improving property values while also acting as a community partner to residents
and businesses.
The architectural and Finance Committees conducted an extensive cost review for
providing services mandated through the Community Declaration. as a cost saving
measure to the community at large, a nominal “improvement fee structure” was
recommended to the Board of Directors for implementation. This measure provides
that the annual assessment rate not increase to our membership and the fees will be
solely absorbed by members receiving a specific community service. The application
Fee structure for residential property improvement applications consists of two tiers.
The two tiers are approved for $10 and $35. Commercial improvement/signage
applications are also subject to an application fee. While the cost of providing service
to our residents continues to escalate, it was decided this fee was the most equitable
solution in maintaining proportionate costs to services provided. The proposal received
overwhelming support from all levels of review during the annual budget process.
We will update the web site with specific covenants information. Visit www.HrCaonline.
org/improvements. Feel free to stop by Eastridge to consult with our covenant staff.

2013 BuDGet IhrcaThe annual budget for the Highlands ranch Community association, Inc. (HrCa) is a financial and operational document that is designed to carry out the obligations of the HrCa. The annual budget also follows the policies of the Board of Directors which reflects the requests for services and facilities by the members.
The HrCa budget anticipates the level of services to be provided, the costs of doing so, and the funds that will be available to provide these services. Types of services and facilities provided are determined by the Community Declaration. The Board of Directors determines the level of service with input from membership, committees, and Delegates. The complete 2013 budget is online at www.HrCaonline.org/budget.

BackcOuNtrY trail cl OsurE
The Wildcat Mountain Trail System
(east of Monarch Blvd.) is closed for
the winter beginning January 1 and will
reopen March 31.
The land surrounding the trails is
traditional wintering ground for
many of the elk that reside in the
Backcountry Wilderness area. The
trails are closed to allow the elk and
deer to get through the winter with
minimal human disturbances. Elk,
and other herbivores, must conserve
as much energy as possible during
the cold months when nutritious
food is scarce. If energy is directed
toward fleeing humans, then surviving
the winter becomes a much more
difficult task.
The Highlands Point Trail System
remains open as well as all of the
Douglas County East-West regional
Trail. For more information, call

January kicks off a season of celebrating the inner artist in 2-17 year
olds! Consider enrolling your child in our Kidzart, abrakadoodle,
young rembrandts, or Film Making art
programs. These programs include
interesting subjects that will stretch your
child’s imagination.
If your child likes to get their hands dirty,
enroll them in our children’s pottery
classes. In our Fairytale Fantasy, Storybook Sculpture, or Beginning
Hand Building class children make their very own special clay
projects. These fun clay programs are for children ages 2½-17.
If your child likes being in the kitchen, enroll him or her in our
children’s cooking classes. Food Made Fun for 2-5 year olds or
Winter Whimsey for 5-9 year olds make cooking fun for kids. For
more information on these great new programs, call 303-471-8853.
Tumbling is a wonderful opportunity for your child to develop
important gross motor skills, coordination, balance, flexibility, and
the ability to listen and follow instructions. This month we are
adding some new equipment to the tumbling room; including a
springboard, a half-beam, and a climbing rope. Be sure to enroll
your children during the winter months so they can burn some
energy and learn new skills. We have also added cheer classes and
a baton twirling classes to give your child a chance to try something
new. For more information, call 303-471-8818.
Start the new year on the right foot and make a resolution to tap
into your creative side! We offer a variety of classes for both you
and your child to stimulate creativity.
For your 1-4 year old, try our new nursery rhyme class, where
children make a special craft for each nursery rhyme. Or try our
new Bubbles class where children will receive a special copy of
The Great Bubble Adventure book. For your 8-11 year old, try a
Creative Canvas class. The January theme "Collage" gives children
a creative outlet and a fun way to express themselves.
If you’re looking for something new and creative for you and a
friend, we have a variety of classes to consider. For adults only, we
are offering Mud and Mimosas pottery
class on Saturdays, Wine Dezign pottery
class on Fridays, Merlot and Monet
art classes on Thursdays, and a Corks
and Forks class on Thursdays. Our
new Watercolor series will have you
painting like a master. If getting on the
dance floor sounds fun, try our new Ladies Only dance class on
Thursdays.
Whatever sparks your interest, grab a friend and give something
new a try! For more information, call 303-471-8928.
