Deliveries will be made using a tractor/trailer weighing approximately 80,000 lbs. It is imperative that all delivery locations be accessible by a vehicle of this size. Our drivers have the authority to refuse delivery to any location they see as unsafe or inaccessible. The customer is responsible for any charges incurred if truck is detained for any reason. The customer is responsible for unloading all trucks. Any damage that occurs at this point is the customer’s responsibility. There must be either equipment or at least 3 people to unload truck.

Storage and Handling

Galvalume and galvanized steel sheets have a good service life when exposed to normal weather conditions however, to protect the appearance of panels and trims from damage, there are a few simple precautions that can be taken. The steel sheets are subject to stain when water sits upon, or becomes trapped between the sheets. If the Galvalume/galvanized sheets are to be stored for any period of time, they should be stored only in a dry place, preferably under a roof. Stand panels on end and fan them out at the bottom to provide air circulation and moisture run off. If space does not allow this, the panels should be separated, blocked off of the floor at least 12 inches to allow air flow, and stored at an incline to encourage drainage. The panels should then be covered, yet still have good air flow through the sheets to prevent condensation. Do not use a plastic cover, as this may cause the panels to sweat or condensation to occur.

Failure to follow these steps may result in wet storage stains and premature rusting.

The manufacturer’s warranty will be void at this time, and the manufacturer will not be responsible.

When unloading panels, extreme caution must be employed. Care needs to be used when unloading panels with a forklift. Panel edges and underside paint

may become damaged if the forklift driver does not use caution. Once in the jobsite, care must be taken in order to protect the painted surface. When unbundling the panels, never drag them across the surface of one another. This may cause scratches across the underneath panels. It is recommended that the panels be “rolled” off the top ofthe bundle to prevent scratching. Never lift panels bythe ends, instead lift the panels longitudinally andcarry vertically.

Panel edges are very sharp, therefore, safety equipment should be worn by all workers handling the material.

Cutting

A portable field shear is the ideal method for cutting panels. Nibblers or a power shear may also be used. Although we do not recommend it, if you decide to cut with a saw, it is very important that the panels be turned upside down during cutting so that hot shavings do not come in contact with the painted surface. Make sure all adjacent panels are covered so that shavings are not imbedded in these panels. If metal shavings become imbedded in the paint surface, they will quickly rust. To avoid this, panels should be thoroughly wiped of all filings on both sides of the panel. Failure to comply with the recommended cutting procedures releases the manufacturer of any responsibility.

Drilling

Panels should not be drilled while stacked. This will cause shavings that will become imbedded in the paint surface.

In order to design, quote or order a roof system, you must determine which system you need, based on building width and insulation requirements.

Low Fixed System - Double slope buildings 200’ wide or less and single slope buildings 100’ wide or less, with or without a 3/8” thermal spacer. See Insulation/Thermal Spacer Selection Chart below.

High Fixed System - Double slope buildings 200’ wide or less and single slope buildings 100’ wide or less, with 3/8”, 5/8”, or 1” thermal spacers. See Insulation/Thermal Spacer Selection Chart below.

Fixed systems utilize fixed clips that do not allow the roof panels to float on the substructure. For this reason, use fixed systems only on pre-engineered metal buildings with purlins, subject to the building width restrictions outlined above. Do not use fixed systems on buildings with bar joist construction, wood decks or metal decks.

Low Floating System - Double slope buildings over 200’ wide or single slope buildings over 100’ wide, with or without 3/8” thermal spacer. See Insulation/Thermal Spacer Selection Chart below.

High Floating System - Double slope buildings over 200’ wide or single slope buildings over 100’ wide, with 3/8”, 5/8” or 1” thermal spacer. See Insulation/Thermal Spacer Selection Chart below.

Thermal calculations should be performed for each project to ensure that the thermal movement of the roof is not greater than the floating clip’s capacity. Various densities of blanket insulation may affect the installation and or the appearance of a metal roof system. The installer is responsible for selecting the proper clip and thermal spacer for their conditions.

CAUTIONApplication and design details are for illustration purposes only, and may not be appropriate for all environmentalconditions or building designs. Projects should be engineered to conform to applicable building codes, regulations,

and accepted industry practices.

CAUTIONis a snap together system. Use of a mechanical seaming tool on the

system will void all warranties.

Notes: 1. As with all standing seam roof systems, sound attenuation (example: blanket insulation) is required between the panel and the

substructure to prevent “roof rumble” during windy conditions. Some composite roof systems may require additional acoustical consideration to ensure that thermal vibration noises are isolated from the building interior. Contact your architect and/or engineer for proper acoustical design.

2. All metal roof systems should be designed by a registered, professional engineer for loads specified by the governing code, including the higher pressures encountered at the edge zones of the roof.

1. DESIGN INTEGRITY The begins and ends in the high, reducing the risk of leakage at the rake that can occur when finishing in the low. The panel seam is sealed with a factory-applied hot-melt mastic, a superior grade to mastics applied in the field.

2. FLOATING ROOF The roof was designed to cope with the forces of expansion and contraction. This is accomplished by allowing the panels to freely move up and down the roof slope.

3. FLOATING CLIPS The Standard Floating clip is available for the system. The Standard clip allows for a total of two inches of thermal movement and is constructed from 14 gauge material. The clip provides a 3/8” or 1 3/8” clearance at the purlin to reduce water ponding on low pitch roofs. Constructed from 12 gauge material, this clip is an integral part of maintaining panel module.

4. UL 90 RATING The roof system has 7 different UL Class 90 construction numbers, each of which is available with several options.

5. FIRE RESISTANCE RATINGS The roof system qualifies for use in several UL design assemblies and carries a UL “Class A” fire rating.

6. SIMPLICITY No troublesome batten cap is needed. The panels simply seam together forming a watertight seal.

7. FLEXIBILITY The roof system offers welcome flexibility to the erector. Wall covering can be erected before or after the roof is installed. Panel installation is an uninterrupted procedure.

8. EASE OF INSTALLATION The erector has the option to sheet each side of the roof separately or both sides simultaneously, which greatly increases the speed and convenience of erection. Being reversible end-for-end, sheets do not have to be special ordered for each side of the building. No field notching of panels at endlaps or ridge is required.

9. FORGIVING SYSTEM The design allows for the roof to be finished in the high when an out-of-square condition or other factors cause the roof to terminate up to 4” from the steel line.

10. BUILDING LENGTH Odd, as well as even, footage buildings can be terminated at a major rib with the use of our 18” panel or by field bending the panel.

11. PREPUNCHED PANELS AND COMPONENTS CSMI’s prepunched system, combined with self-engaging back-up plates, assures panel module and speeds roof installation.

12. DURABILITY Every unpainted panel is manufactured from Galvalume Plus®, your assurance of the CSMI commitment to quality.

13. COLOR AND FINISHES is available in a wide variety of popular colors in two different paint systems. Please contact CSMI for color availability and lead times.

Thermal Spacer DisclaimerThe above thermal spacer chart is intended to be used as a general guideline only. Because of the various densities of insulation currently avail-able, the manufacturer cannot guarantee that this chart will be accurate in all situations. Further, the manufacturer does not specifically require that the roofing contractor use thermal spacers with its roof system. However, please review the following information:

• Although the manufacturer does not require a thermal spacer, the architect or building owner may.• In certain environments, the compression of the fiberglass insulation, without a thermal spacer, may create a thermal break which

can cause condensation to form on the purlins/joists.• On uninsulated buildings, eliminating the thermal spacer: (1) may cause “roof rumble” and (2) you may encounter problems

holding panel module.• When a high clip is used without a thermal spacer: (1) you may encounter problems holding panel module and (2) foot traffic on

the panel ribs may result in bent clips.• Using a low clip with too much insulation or too thick a thermal spacer: (1) may cause “purlin read” (2) may cause difficulty in

properly installing the panel side laps, and (3) you may encounter problems holding panel module.

Diaphragm capabilities and purlin stability are not provided by CSMI’s Roof system. Therefore, other bracing may be required to conform to A.I.S.C. or A.I.S.I. specifications.

Seaming Tool Rental Agreement

Revised 2011

Thank you for placing your standing seam order with Central States Mfg. As you know, the panel you have ordered requires a seaming tool for proper installation. We would like to give you some basic tips in processing the seamer rental agreement that will help ensure a timely and efficient delivery.

Tip 1: Please make sure you complete your Seaming Tool Rental Agreement in full. Any information not provided may cause a delay in the shipment of your seamer.Tip 2: When complete, please sign and date where indicated and return to your sales representative. Agreements without a signature will not be scheduled.Tip 3: Please allow a minimum standard lead time of 10 business days from the day the agreement is received by Central States until the date required on job site. It is advised that the seamer agreement be turned in with the panel order to ensure a coordinated delivery.Tip 4: We realize there will be occasions when a less than 10 day lead time is required. In those extreme cases, we will do everything to try and accommodate the request, however, we are limited to availability based on the date required. Your Central States sales representative must review availability before we can commit to your request.Tip 5: Rental charges begin the day a seaming tool ships and continue until the day that seaming tool is returned/received at Central States. Please make sure you do not incur additional charges by returning it immediately after use.Tip 6: Central States does charge freight in addition to the rental charges. Freight charges apply to each individual package shipped.Tip 7: Standard delivery time is two business days from the day the seamer leaves the Central States facility.Tip 8: The tools are shipped in a locked box and the combination is on the rental form.Tip 9: Return instructions are included on both the outside and inside of the box.Tip 10: When multiple seaming tools are being returned, please insure that all equipment is in the correct box. All boxes and equipment are labeled with a unique identifying number.Tip 11: Please return the seaming tools in a clean and working condition. Additional charges will be incurred for the repair of damaged and/or abused equipment and shipping boxes.Tip 12: Although you are solely responsible for managing the rental time frame, we may contact you on a periodic basis to insure that your project is progressing and that you are still in need of the seaming equipment. This is a friendly reminder to keep you from incurring additional cost on your project.

Our seaming tools are shipped on a first come, first served basis. Please take the proper steps on the frontend of your order so we can satisfy your seamer needs.

Thank you for your order and for taking the time to read these tips. We hope it helps you in your futurerequests for seamers. Our goal is to provide you with a pleasant rental experience. Your feedback is encouraged and appreciated.

GALVALUME 20 YEAR WARRANTYCentral States Manufacturing (CSM) warrants that hot-dipped aluminum-zinc alloy coated Galvalume steel sheets sold as Panel-Loc, Panel-Loc Plus, M-Loc, Horizon-Loc, R-Loc, Central-Loc or Central Seam Plus, for use as steel building roofing and siding panels, if erected in the United States, WILL NOT rupture, fail structurally or perforate within a period of twenty (20) years after shipment due to exposure to normal atmospheric corrosion.

This warranty DOES NOT APPLY to sheets exposed at any time to corrosive or aggressive atmospheric conditions, including but not limited to: • Areas subject to salt water marine atmospheres or to constant spraying of either salt or fresh water. • Areas subject to fallout or exposure to corrosive chemicals, ash or fumes. • Areas subject to water run-off from lead or copper flashings or areas in metallic contact with lead or copper. • Conditions/circumstances where corrosive fumes or condensates are generated or released inside the building.

This warranty DOES NOT APPLY in the event of: • Mechanical, chemical or other damage sustained during shipment, storage, erection, or after erection. • Failure to provide free drainage of water, including internal condensation from overlaps and all other surfaces of the sheets or panels. • Failure to remove debris from overlaps and all other surfaces of the sheets or panels. • Damage caused to the metallic coating by improper scouring or cleaning procedures. • Deterioration of the panels caused by contact with green or wet lumber, or storage stain caused by water damage or condensation. • Presence of damp insulation or other corrosive materials in contact with or close proximity to the panel. • Deterioration to the panels caused directly or indirectly by panel contact with concrete, asphalt, gravel, dirt, mulch, or any corrosive material. • Deterioration of the panels caused directly or indirectly by panel contact with fasteners. Selection of suitable long-lasting fasteners to be used with Galvalume roofing and siding panels rests solely with the Buyer. • A degree of bending less than 2T for sheet gauges up to 0.030 in. and degree of bending less than 4T for sheet gauges 0.031 in. and thicker. • Slopes of roof or sections of the roof flatter than 1/4:12.

This warranty shall be subject to the stipulations, limitations and conditions hereinafter set forth.

The remedy for any claims on steel roofing and siding panels shall be at the discretion of Central States Manufacturingand shall be limited to refinishing or replacing thedefective panels.

CENTRAL STATES MANUFACTURING SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSSES, DAMAGES OR EXPENSES WHETHER DIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL, CAUSED BY OR RESULTING FROM THE USE OFDEFECTIVE OR NON-CONFORMING STEEL ROOFINGAND SIDING PANELS OR FOR ANY OTHER INCIDENTAL
