Name Paragraphs: basic structure

Don't Forget The Detqils!A paragraph is a lot like a sandwich. lt has two main parts that hold

it together, just like the two slices of bread that hold a sandwich

together. The beginning of a paragraph is called the topic sentence-

ThL topic sentence tells what the paragraph is about. The ending is

called the conclusion.lT restates the topic sentence.

ln between the topic sentence and the conclusion are the details.

Details are sentences that prove, explain, or support the tgpic given

in your topic sentence. Just like you can't build a good sandwich

without ingredients to put between the bread, you can't build a good

paragraph without interesting details.
