It is used when we want to give more importance

to the action instead of the person who

performs.

Example:

◦ Active: The dog bit the mailman.(El perro mordió al

cartero)

◦ Passive: The mailman was bitten by the dog. El cartero

fue mordido por el perro)

General rule:

◦ Subject + Ailiary Verb (TO BE) + Past Participle

◦ 1. The object changes in the subject of the voice passive.

◦ 2. The subject of the voice active changes in the complement agent of the active. It adds the end of the sentence introduces for a preposition “BY”.

◦ 3. The verbs of the active sentences changes into in passive verb.

for the form:

Ex: She buy a new car (active)

The new car is brought by her (passive)

Am/ are / is + verb past participle / verb regular (-ed).
