With text, less is almost always more. One thing to avoid, slides with a lot of text, especially if its a repeat of what youre saying out loud. Its like if you give a paper handout in a meeting, everyones head goes down and they read, rather than staying heads-up and listening. If there are a lot of words on your slide, youre asking your audience to split their attention between what theyre reading and what theyre hearing. Thats really hard for a brain to do, and it compromises the effectiveness of both your slide text and your spoken words. If you cant avoid having text-y slides, try to progressively reveal text (like unveiling bullet points one by one) as you need it.

Slid

es

Let youslidesbreathe

Slid

esUseImage/ Figureswheneverpossible

Slid

esKeep the variety of fonts to minimal

Slid

es

I am Serif

I am San-SerifSerif is better

in slides

Slid

es

San-Serif

Serif

Slid

esKeep a set of backup slides

Slid

esCheck four typos

TypoMisunderstanding

Bad Reputation

Slid

es

Play withcontrast

Big is beautiful

Deliveringthe Presentation

3

Timing

Keep yourpresentationwithintime limit

Timing

Be agile

AnsweringListen

carefully to the

questions

AnsweringAnswer

directlyto the point of the questions

Do notsmoke

Answering

:) Always

Make eye contact

Be confident

Practice.Practice.Practice.Practice.Practice.

Thank you

Cikgu FadzliFaCulty of Informatics & Computing

1st August 2016
