How I Effectively use Facebook to Market Products and Services

A lot has been written on how you can effectively use Facebook to drive hoards of traffic to your

websites or wherever you want to direct that traffic. Today I am going to add my own experiences in

this particular field.

I have had mixed results using Facebook over the years both positive and negative. Generally speaking,

my experiences have taught me that it is much easier to drive Facebook traffic for certain types of

offers but not for others.

I recently held an Information Marketing Seminar where my partner Kudakwashe Sape Tshuma

www.kudaonline.com touched a bit on how he had used Facebook to get hundreds of leads within

48hrs and generate thousands of dollars in that month for his business. He didn’t get much into the

HOW TO part of it as the seminar was mainly focused on what I was teaching which was Information

Marketing.

An interesting thing happened though. For weeks after the seminar, we got requests from people who

wanted to know how best they could leverage this online asset to effectively market their products or

services. This article is partly being written in response to that question.

Let’s get into it shall we.

I am going to teach you a blueprint that you can use starting today. For us to make this work, we will

need to be able to track our results. The best way you can do this on Facebook is to set up a Facebook

page. Facebook uses what are called insights to track your results.

Insights are only activated once your page reaches 30 Likes. Create a Facebook page and invite your

friends to like your page. You need to have posted some related content that your friends will like to

read first so as to get them to like the page.

Alternatively, share the posts that you would have posted on your page to other related facebook

pages to encourage people to like your page. The fastest way, however is to invest at least $5 on

promoting your page through Facebook Paid ads service. You will have your first 30 Likes in no time

at all.

Facebook Page Insights allow you to see the results or the effectiveness of the posts that you put up

on Facebook. It will show you how many people have seen the post and in what ways they have

engaged with it meaning actual views, shares, comments and likes.

The more the people who engage with your post, the more people that your post will be shown to. In

this tutorial, I will show you a method I use to post to multiple Facebook groups and get amazing

exposure for my ads at Zero Cost.

Note: You can still use this method without a facebook page but the Facebook page helps you track

results and will help you see how many people are actually viewing your post and how they are

actually engaging with your content (i.e Likes, Comments, Shares and Link Clicks). When it comes to

marketing on the internet, testing is always very important as different products or services will

attract different results. You must test, test and test until you find the right formula.

FACEBOOK INSIGHTS

Below is a screenshot of the Facebook Insights page for one of the pages I manage.

The insights page shows you how far your content is reaching. This page has about 2000 Likes at the

time of writing this post. The number of likes is insignificant with this method. The main aim is to get

your content seen by as many people as possible. With the method I teach, you get to leverage on

communities that other people have built.

In the above screen shot, I started using this method on the post that is third from top and also on the

one that is second from top. I haven’t yet applied it on the post that is at the top. The third post got

managed to get 30 000 views. Of these, 19 000 were from free traffic while the remainder was from

paid traffic.

If you understand facebook pages, you will see that these are phenomenal numbers that this post

generated. I also applied the same method on the second post from the post but I did not post to as

many groups but the results are still very good especially with no paid advertising.

Here is a closer look at the results again and another good reason you want to use Facebook page

insights to track your results. The main objective for this post was to drive people to a page where

they opt in to a mailing list for free recipes. That page has a conversion rate of just around 60% percent

meaning that out of the 908 link clicks almost 460 people signed up to the mailing list.

If the objective was just simply for people to see the post and have them call a number for example,

we would have had a really good response rate at a fraction of the cost.

I could show you other examples but I am sure you can’t wait for me to get into the meat of it and

show you the methods.

So Here goes!

This lesson assumes that you already have a facebook page with at least 30 Likes and that you have

posted at least 1 post to it. If you don’t, I have given the instructions above. Ok, so the first thing you

want to do is do a search for Facebook groups that are relevant to the content you want to post.

STEP 1

If you want to advertise a product that is targeted mainly to the local market, you would want to

search using the name Zimbabwe in your search term or whatever locality you are from. In this

example, we will simply target recipe pages from around the world as the product we are marketing

serves the international market so the simple search term “recipes” will surfice.

On the top tab of the search results, I want you to select “Groups”. The next step is to go and join

each group or as many as you can. Most groups will need for you to be approved so it may take a while

for you to be able to post to the groups.

On the other hand, some groups are very active and you can get an approval notification as you are

joining them.

STEP 2

The next thing you need to do is go the post you want to promote. On the post, click on the time stamp

at the top part of the page as in the image below:

This page below will open up. You then copy the link to this post as shown below:

STEP 3

Assuming that you have been accepted to the groups you have requested to join, you then go and

paste this link on the group. In a few seconds, the link will generate the ad as below:

Next, you simply delete the link at the top or alternatively, type in a message in its place as I done in

the image below:

Click Post and that’s it! You are done. Do this for as many pages as you can and you will begin to see

the numbers add up. Check your Insights on your Facebook page periodically to see the effectiveness

of your advert and continue to test, test and test until you come up with a formula that brings out the

best results then stick to that.

This is the manual method and if done every day, will bring significant results. If, however, you don’t

have the time to do this on a continual basis, here is a tool that I recommend. You simply set it up and

it will do the posting for you day and night while you focus on other things to improve your business.
