GENERALThank you for choosing Horizon to be your training provider and booking a place on The Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support course, accredited by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). The course is aimed at rescue service personnel who work in the pre-hospital arena such as Fire, Police and Ambulance Services and the Private Ambulance Service Sector. It emphasises the need for a rapid assessment of the critical trauma patient, treatment of shock and hypoxaemia, and transportation to an appropriate hospital.

The PHTLS course is delivered over 2 days and educates the student in the management of trauma and the equipment that is necessary to assist in maintaining life support in the pre-hospital arena. The course actively encourages students to share knowledge and expertise with different agencies.

The course will be delivered by a Registered Paramedic Instructor with a wealth of knowledge and frontline experience.

Delivery methods will be powerpoint presentation, class discussion, practical assignments, skills stations and indoor and outdoor based scenario training.

On day 2 of the course you will sit a written examination provided by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and be assessed on the practical elements of the course.
