The acquisitive company has made large purchases for five years, expanding its reach into Ireland, Austria, andPortugal. As a result, more than half its screens are now outside its home turf of the UK. It also expands itsrevenue by upgrading snack options and adding coffee shops and other food vendors as well as investing in digital,3D, and IMAX technology. ODEON's loyalty group includes 1 million members. The company's brands include Cinesain Spain, UCI Kinowelt in Germany and Austria, and UCI Cinemas in Italy and Portugal.

All the growth, both geographically and financially, has attracted attention. Three investment firms, including BCPartners Limited, and Vue Entertainment are reportedly interested in acquiring the exhibitor. Terra Firma boughtODEON in 2004 and merged it with UCI, which was already in its portfolio. It paid €650 million and is looking to sellODEON & UCI Cinemas for between €1,400 and €2,000 million.
