Background

Preloved Byron is concerned about the environemental impact of the waste of materials. In the Byron shire, people dump their rubbish, stoves, lamps, furnitures,... directly on the street. There is also more and more constructions and building renovations going on around town producing heaps of waste. In the other hand, some people are not scared to pay for old looking furnitures probably industrialy made but that looks in.

SolutionsWhile most of the people would buy old expensive industrial furnitures, Preloved Byron is suggesting another alternative by personalising your old furnitures you want to get rid of.Using the knowledge of an interior designer passionate about materials and do-it-yourself, this project will cover an area of 10km around Byron to collect the best looking furnitures out of the waste. How? Simply call us to let us know you have got furnitures (chairs, chest, wardrobe, cabinet,...). In that way, you will free up space in your house! We can also give you advices about what you’ve got and bring back to life your favourite pieces.

Marketing strategiesGumtree is very popular when it comes to find cheap or free stuff. It offers an easy use for all ages by the classifications, you can also see what is available from the same seller. Therefore that is a free or low cost showcase for both the consumer and the seller. This would be for locals. What about the tourists? Coming in Byron for the relax/happy life, some of them want to go back home with something made locally. This is where having a small shop in the industrial estate helps; promoted with flyers in the shops in Byron as well as a page on the Byron Bay website.

Target marketThe target market would be the people living in Byron itself (can be people moving in Byron and looking for cheap good looking furnitures usually aged around 20 up to 30 or the locals) and around it but also the tourists coming in Byron for its «hippie» lifestyle.
