PASTOR’S CORNER
Dear Parishioners,
The Jubilee Year of Mercy began on December 8th. Mary is recog-nized under many titles; The Im-maculate Conception, Our Lady of Guadalupe and Mother of Mercy. Mercy is a quality of compassion that needs to influence all dimensions of the life of the disci-ple. Mercy in our personal relationships allows us to continue to offer a second chance to a friend and/or a family member. In our Church it calls us to live with human fail-ing and fragility without a loss of hope. Nowhere is Mercy more urgently needed than in our soci-ety; it is the antidote to hate and bigotry. When viewed through the prism of mercy attitudes to abortion, the death penalty and the cult of the gun are transformed. Vengeance gives way to forgiveness, even in the midst of hostilities. Mercy becomes a corporal work when we trans-late it into a social ministry of service and jus-tice, especially in issues that affect the vulnerable and the poor. A big thank you to all who have taken a tag from our giving tree as this demonstrates your sup-port of the outreach of Catholic Charities. Put our New Year's Party on your calendar! More information to come. The Sacrament of reconciliation and mercy beck-ons us during Advent. From the New Rite you may use this simple act of contrition; "Lord Je-sus, son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner".
With Advent Hope, Fr. Gerry Creedon

El Rinconcito del Padre
Estimados Feligreses,

Can additional funds be taken from my account other than what I have authorized? NO. The Faith Direct pro-
gram is strictly regulated, and only you can designate the amount to be debited on a monthly basis. We will not disclose any non-public personal information except as required by law.

Your church will receive monthly statements detailing your support, and Faith Direct will provide you with an annual contribution state-ment for tax purposes. Your contributions to your church via Faith Direct are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
I’d like to continue to participate in the offertory collec-tion during Mass. What should I do? Faith Direct will pro-

3rd Sunday of Advent “Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests
known to God.” (PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7)
St. Paul reminds us that our
God is an abundant God,
the ultimate giver of gifts.
He promises to give us all that we need.
When we trust that God will take care of us,
it is easier for us to share what we have been given.

Altar Flower Donation Program
Dear Parishioners, During this Holy Season of Advent, in
accordance with the USCCB, the liturgical color for Advent is purple, just like Lent—as both are seasons that prepare us for great
feast days. Also Advent (like Lent) includes an element of penance in the sense of
preparing, quieting and disciplining our hearts for the full joy of Christmas. Therefore, we try to constrain from
decorating the Church with flowers until the joyous birth of our Lord.
