Spring 2015 Testing For Graduation Requirements

HSPE Reading and Writing will be replaced by:• 10th grade English Language Arts Exit Exam

Math End-of-Course exams will be replaced by:• Algebra Exit Exam • Geometry Exit Exam

All Exit Exams will be:• Aligned to Common Core Standards• From the Smarter Balanced item pool

• They may be online.

Spring 2015 Testing For Graduation Requirements

Biology End-of-Course Exam will continue to be in paper/pencil format.

DAPE will be available in the form of lower level online SBA tests in ELA and Math, although Science DAPE will continue to be paper/pencil MSP tests.

The WAAS-Portfolio will be available in a form that will be aligned to Common Core Standards.

Smarter Balanced Assessment forAssessing Career/College Readiness

Beginning in spring 2015, all 11th graders will be expected to take the SBA in:

• English Language Arts• Math

• The SBA will be ONLINE.

Why will students be motivated to try their best? • Since the SBA is designed to measure college and career

readiness, colleges and employers may begin to use the results as part of their admissions and/or hiring processes.

Next Year’s Testing by Grade Level9th Grade 10th Grade 11th Grade 12th Grade

If enrolled in course and not previously met the requirement:

• Algebra Exit Exam

• Geometry Exit Exam

• Biology EOC Exam

All students (required):• ELA Exit

Exam

Students who have not previously passed math or biology:

• A math Exit Exam

• Biology EOC

All students (required):• SBA Online ELA • SBA Online Math

Students who have not previously passed relevant subjects:

• ELA Exit Exam (for Reading &/or Writing)

• A math Exit Exam

• Biology EOC

• Or appropriate CAA or CIA options

Students who have not previously passed relevant subjects:

• ELA Exit Exam (for Reading &/or Writing)

• A math Exit Exam

• Biology EOC

• Or appropriate CAA or CIA options

Testing Graduation RequirementsClasses of 2014 – 2018 must pass:1. An English Language Arts state test, which can be:

• HSPE Reading and Writing (acceptable through the Class of 2016) or• 10th grade ELA Exit Exam or• 11th grade SBA ELA or• CAA/CIA Option (COE, SAT, ACT, AP/IB, Grade Comparison; DAPE, LDA, WAAS-Port)

2. One Math End-of-Course test, which can be:• Algebra EOC or• Geometry EOC or• Algebra Exit Exam or• Geometry Exit Exam or• 11th grade SBA Math• CAA/CIA Option (COE, SAT, ACT, AP/IB, Grade Comparison; DAPE, LDA, WAAS-Port)

Classes of 2015 – 2018 must also pass:3. Biology End-of-Course Exam or available CAA/CIA Options

Testing Graduation Requirements

Starting with the Class of 2019, students must pass:

• SBA in ELA – given first in 11th grade• SBA in Math – given first in 11th grade• Biology EOC or newer Science state assessment when available
