    Purification systems

    BAUER P system: processing of air, He, Ne, Ar, Kr, N2, CH4

    The quality of the highly compressed air from the compressor isn't able to cope with most of thedemands, because it is saturated with 100% moisture, has oil parts from the compressor unit andit is polluted with orodus and taste substances. The purifying is also very important for theavoidance of corrosion, soiling, icing up and the formation of micro-organisms. BAUER-P-systems adsorb moisture, oil vapours, carbon-hydrogen based gas residue, carbon monoxide,carbon dioxide etc. according to cartridge selection. For more information refer to chapter filtercartridges.

    All requirements of the European Standard DIN/EN12021 are fulfilled or even undercut by Bauer-purification systems.

    The compressed medium is first sent through the mechanical oil and water separator. Here,condensated parts can be separated from the air and gas stream. The now 100 % saturated andoil steam including medium streams over a non-return valve into the adsorber. Here are taken themedium in the first layer, the molecular sieve, water steam and oil aerosols through adsorptionaway.The following active coal removes the oil steams, as well as smells and tastes out of the air/gasstream. Through a further molecular sieve and a particle filter the so cleaned medium leaves thefilter cartridge. A pressure maintaining - non-return valve, which is included in the tubing of the P-Filter system behind the filter, cares for a constant minimum pressure in the system and takescare for a optimal purification.

    For your safety

    All P-Filter systems except P21 and P31can be optionally equipped with our patented SECURUSsafety system. For P21 and P31 we recommend the B-Timer.

    The SECURUS-System takes care about the H2O saturation of the filter cartridge through testingthe moisture in the molecular sieve with taking care about the operating conditions, e.g.temperature and shows in the display of the COMP-TRONIC / B-CONTROL control a warningright in time, that you should use a new cartridge.

    If the cartridge is saturated and not removed in time, the SECURUS system turns off the unitautomatically and shows that also optically..

    SECURUS guarantees the optimal dryness of the breathing air according to DIN/EN12021 andthe 100% usage of the cartridge.

    The processing of the gas will be performed in the following order:

    Coarse removal of oil and water particles: by means of the oiland water separator.

    Removal of carbon dioxide CO2: with Sodalime, SO

    Removal of water vapor H2O: with molecular sieve, MS

    Removal of oil vapors and odours CxHy: with Aktivwith activatedcarbon, AC

    Conversion of carbon monoxide CO into CO2: with Hopcalite

    Changing the filter cartridge with the B-timer is safe, simple, and economical.

    This mini-computer counts the operating hours and reliably shows the saturation of the cartridge.Due cartridge change and maintenance intervals are shown at a glance.

    CO2 Removal / AERO-GUARD

    In our environment, the CO2 content is constantly increasing. Bauer Kompressoren offers you avery efficient means of cleaning the air from CO2.

    Through a sophisticated by-pass system the air taken in by the compressor is passed through theAERO-GUARD unit. Nur Only two thirds of the air pass through the cartridge, which adsorbs theCO2 . Thus the CO2 content is reduced to a third of the value of the intake air far below the verystrict limits of the DIN12021. At the same time the AERO-GUARD reaches an extremely longfilter lifetime.

    THE accessory for the increasement of the lifetime of your drying cartridges.

    The compressed air from the compressor outlet is cooled down to between +2C and +8.

    The cooled and compressed air is cleaned by the final separator of the compressor and the

    automatic condensate drain unit from oil vapours and water, is the passed to your filter system,

    and thus prolonges the lifetime of the cartridges by up to 600 percent.

    Negative environmental influence and enhanced standards for breathing air quality like theDINEN12021 put ever increasing demands on the operators of filling stations.By means of the inserted test tube, the liwith values of oil vapor, CO2 , CO and water aremeasured at the same time.     Condensate collecting system

    The condensate collecting system serves as a centralcollector of the accumulated condensate and separates thecondensate from the air.The condensate collecting tank is equipped with a levelindicator for optical pre-warning for exchange when due.     Please observe the local regulations for the installation!

    The filling panels are installed separately from the unit. With standard open i.e. not soundabsorbing units and desired local separation, which means that the filling panel is located inanother room, e.g. in the sales room or the testing area.

    Automatic selector unit

    AdvantagesThe automatic switching device allows a fastautomatic refilling of one or more pressure tankson a filling panels from an intermediate storageand from the compressor at the same time.Pressure tanks have always priority, whichmeans that the storage and the compressor arealways filling the pressure tank first. If thepressure tank is full the intermediate storage isfilled up by the compressor until a new emptybottle is connected on the filling panel.FunctionAfter connecting the breathing air bottle to thefilling panel and opening the bottle and fillingvalves, compressed air flows from the storagebattery into the bottle. This continues untilpressure balance is reached between bottle andstorage battery. The compressor startsautomatically and fills the bottle to the max.pressure of the bottle. When the bottle is filled,the compressor continues operating until thestorage battery is completely filled to max.pressure, and then stops.The three functions of the automatic selectorunit are:

    Prefillling the bottles from the storagebattery to pressure balance.

    Filling the breathing air bottles to max.operating pressure

    Refilling the storage battery to max.operating pressure.

    The unit consists of a pressure reducer withintegrated pressure sensor which starts or stopsthe compressor. This unit replaces a cascadefilling arrangement. The pressure gaugesmonitor the pre and after-pressure, the sensorcontrols the compressor.

    Pressure gauges

    The pressure gauges shown below are hermetically sealed, filled with glycerine and haveinternal pressure compensation. We recommend these pressure gauges for high dynamicloads and very high pressures, vibrations and pulsation.The liquid in the gauge dampens the effect of vibrations and pulsations on the pointer. Thisensures a steady and precise reading and longer gauge life.The components of the gauge are tightly sealed to prevent condensation from forming, whichcould then cause corrosion.

    The pressure gauges have a solid steel plate housing made of CrNiSteal with a pressuredischarge orifice in the rear wall of the housing. A plastic cover closes this opening.

    Pressure monitoring

    Pressure switches

    Pressure switches are components for automatic pressure control of the compressor unit and thepressure tank. They control e.g. oil pressure, intermediate and final pressure. When the adjustedpressure is reached the electrical contact closes or opens as required.

    The typical pressure switch for the filling procedure is a piston pressure switch. It is used tocontrol the final pressure during the filling procedure (breathing air) in combination with a semi-automatic control system. Adjustable switch-off pressure.

    Shut-off valves

    High pressure ball valves have little or no restriction to allow for a very high flow rate. Thegaskets are suited for oil free and dry air. The handle shows the ON OFF position and is easy toactuate.Temperature of the medium: -20C to + 100C.

    Pressure maintaining valves

    Pressure maintaining valves ensure a correct and safe function of the air or gascompressor and of the air and gas processing systems.They also reduce the dynamic pressure load on the purifying filters.

    We recommend to check the pressure maintaining valves every 500 operating hours or atleast once a year for correct function. Every 1000 operating hours or every 2 years theinner parts like gaskets, seals, o-rings and pistons have to be replaced. Please refer to ourrepair kits.

    Pressure regulators

    With BAUER Pressure Regulators a very high regulation accuracy is reached in the highpressure technique for middle and higher flow performance because of the pressure relievingvalve construction.The Regulator distinguish through delay-free reaction, almost insensitive against prepressurechanging, tight at zero flow and high wear-resistance. The regulation is not temperature related,because spring stressed Pressure Regulators are used. An integrated floating valve allows thedown regulating of the secondary pressure in closed pressure systems.

    Pressure Regulators are used, to lower the medium from a higher pressure to a lower , becauseof the respective valve construction a corresponding volume stream is created. Further as pilotpressure regulator from a vantage point to control a dome pressure regulator (secondarypressure).Standard Features:

    The selected high solid materials are standing for a long life. All other possible changes of thematerial, like corrosion or wear are avoided. So the precision and function remain uninterfered.

    Housing and spring housing are made of Dural or Aluminium bronze, the valve spindle and thevalve seat are made of Nirosteal. A catchy knob is used for the stage less pressure setting.

    We absolutely recommend to ensure your secondary pressure install a BAUER Safety valve inyour piping. You can find product informations and order-numbers in the safety valve chapter.The pressure must be set on the pressure of the user, e.g. a filling panel.Please pay attention to our safety valve instructions.To prevent from damage by particles we recommend the right particle filters 20 m for ourpressure reducers e.g. part no. 060490

    Dome pressure reducer

    Direct acting dome pressure reducer for inline mounting. Soft skin gasket therefore tightclosing at zero flow rate. Recommended filter: N4817 for PN420. This is a 20 m particle filterwhich reliably stops particles and guarantees a long life of the pressure reducer.

    Tubes, clamps and hoses

    To prevent corrosion in the high pressure system, we recommend to install stainless steel tubes,only.

    Please observe:

    The pressure ratings are calculated acc. to DIN2413 for an ambient temperature of 20C. The pressure rating of the tubing drops at higher temperatures, and can be calculated by using

    an engineering constant. for example:

    50C : Factor 0,945100C : Factor 0,885For an exact calculation see DIN17440.

    Hoses

    Max. working pressure

    Hoses can be ordered for various pressure ranges, as well as with differentconnections.

    Please remember that the max.permissible operating pressuredepends on the component with

    the lowest pressure range.

    short term up to +80C / 176 F allowed

    Flow rate: max. 10 m/s. Reference data see section tables.

    Continuous pressure in the hoses considerably shortens their lives. It is recommendednot to use them for this kind of application. When using the hoses, follow the regulations

    of the respective state or country.

    Mounting procedure

    When installing hose lines, make sure they are correctly mounted according to the followingpicture.

    When installing hoses please attempt to make the run of the hose as simple as possible. Under pressure, hoses can change slightly in length; therefore plan to allow a little slack in each

    hose. Dont twist the hose tightening while the end fitting is under pressure, the hose will return to its

    original shape and the end fittings may loosen. Where necessary, use elbow or angle pieces to eliminate very small bend radii. please take care that the end connections are rigid.
