H.E.R.E. is the SACMI-developed M.E.S. solution

that ensures all-round optimisation of the pro-

duction process at both operational and manage-

rial level thanks to modules that perform both de-

partment control and operations management.

To ensure production needs are met with a pre-

cise response, the H.E.R.E. range now includes

two new solutions: H.E.R.E. DCS (Department

Control System), designed to make day to day

running of the plant and machine utilisation

more efficient and ergonomic, and H.E.R.E.

MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management),

designed to manage the entire production-side

information flow, from raw material to shipment,

in an integrated, optimised manner.

partment. It gives access to all machines, allow-

ing better production management.

It allows integration of “machine control and

During renewal of one of its plants, the

group decided to test innovative ceram-

ic manufacturing management logic and

make use of the technologies needed to

implement this change.

The H.E.R.E. system project extends the

range of manufacturing management

functions thanks to the introduction of a

sophisticated scheduling module that opti-

mises individual order planning on the var-

ious production lines.

In this application, H.E.R.E. allows automa-

tion of end-of-line management and links

the semi-finished items buffer with the cre-

ation of ready-to-ship items.

Durante il rinnovamento di uno dei propri

impianti, il gruppo ha deciso di sperimen-

tare logiche innovative nella gestione della

produzione ceramica e avvalersi di idonee

tecnologie che supportassero questo cam-

biamento.

Il progetto del sistema H.E.R.E. amplia le

funzionalità di gestione della produzione

grazie all’introduzione di un sofisticato mo-

dulo di schedulazione volto a ottimizzare la

pianificazione dei singoli ordini sulle diverse

To maintain control over offshore produc-

tion, the company selected the H.E.R.E. sys-

tem to have a comprehensive overview of

plant status and manage production orders

while gathering all correlated information.

On receiving an order, H.E.R.E. acquires the

data directly from the ERP and sends it to

the departments. H.E.R.E. subsequently

lets the user follow the lot from the start of

production to completion.

Once the process has ended, H.E.R.E. gath-

ers and processes the production info, au-

tomatically generates reports and makes

them available anywhere in the world, mak-

ing production more flexible and data con-

trol more precise.

Per mantenere il controllo sulla nuova produ-

zione delocalizzata, l’azienda ha scelto il si-

stema H.E.R.E. per avere completa visibilità

sullo stato dell’impianto, e gestire gli ordini

produttivi, raccogliendo tutte le informazioni

a essi correlati.

Alla ricezione di un ordine, H.E.R.E. acquisi-

sce i dati direttamente dall’ERP e li invia ai

reparti. In seguito H.E.R.E. permette di se-

guire il lotto dall’inizio della sua produzione

fino al completamento.

A processo concluso, H.E.R.E. raccoglie ed

elabora le informazioni di produzione, crea

automaticamente i report e li rende disponi-

bili in qualsiasi parte del mondo, favorendo

una produzione più flessibile e un controllo

dei dati di produzione più accurato.

In this case H.E.R.E. functions have been

enhanced so that firing lines can be man-

aged in a way that responds to the custom-

er’s need to make them more efficient and

eliminate worker errors.

By coordinating information from the ERP

and production lines, H.E.R.E. ensures

automatic execution of machine set-up,

keeps workers in the department constant-

ly notified and sends feedback to the man-

agement system.

Following successful completion in another

of its plants, the group had decided to apply

the solution here too. However, in this case

it was also necessary to integrate an old de-

partment with low levels of automation.

To integrate it with the control and man-

agement logic of the rest of the plant the

department was therefore revamped.

The firm’s main need was to measure pro-

duction line and machine performance ac-

curately in order to identify inefficiencies

and hidden costs and so increase produc-

tivity. Energy and maintenance aspects

were also paramount. The modularity and

flexibility of H.E.R.E. made it possible to

satisfy multiple user needs and manage

information flows in an integrated manner.
