THE ART AND SCIENCE OF HEALING

God pledged Himself to keep this human machinery in healthful action if thehuman agent will obey His laws and cooperate with God. MS 3, 1897 CD p.17

If man will first trust in God, rest, exercise, be temperant, dress with modesty and use His simple agents properly, and maintain good hygiene in using His temple,

then God will continue to cooperate with the human agent in providing Hisnatural agents of sunlight, water, clean air, life bearing grass, seeds and herbs, in

the prevention of disease. Gen. 1:11, Ex. 15:26; 1 Cor. 3:9-11; 1MR 345.2-346.3

There are many ways of practicing the healing art, but there is only one way

that Heaven approves. God's remedies are the simple agencies of nature that will not tax or debilitate

the system through their powerful properties. {5T 443.1}

The work of cultivating the heart is profitable at all times and in all places.

El Dr. Von Braun, who was the inventor of space ships said: “Our necessity for God is not based only on admiration and fear.

Man needs faith, just like food, water and air.” John 1:4-5 tells us about the Sun of Righteousness that “In Him

was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

TRUSTING IN GOD

According to Hebrews 11:1-3 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”

Romanos 1:20 says “Because the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are

without excuse.”

WHAT IS THE SYMBOL OF HEALING FOR BELIEVERS IN THE BIBLE ?

John 3:14-15 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but

have eternal life.”

Malchi 4:2 says: “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of

righteousness arise with healing in his wings.”

WHAT POWER IS GIVEN TO THE SYMBOL OF HEALING THAT WAS USED IN THE

TIME OF MOSES?

Numbers 21:5-9 says: “And the people spakeagainst God and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in

the wilderness?

And the Lord permitted firey serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel Died. And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fireyserpent, and set it up upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looked upon it shall live.”

2 Cor. 5:21 dice: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made

the righteousness of God in him.”

JESUS HEALING THE SICK

“If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and will do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” Exodus 15:26

Since the creation of Adam and Eve, when invited, God has been dwelling in the hearts, souls and minds of

men & women throughout the ages of time.

The human frame was made in the image of God. Our Creator tells us that when we allow Him into His temple, that in sickness or in health, He will never leave

us. The temple of God is by design, a sacred and holy place. He wants us to prosper and to be in good

health.

precepts of the Decalogue that were written by the finger of God.

Without health no one can as distinctly understand or as completely fulfill his obligations to himself, to his fellow beings,

or to his Creator. Therefore the health should be as faithfully guarded as the character.” {Ed 195.1}

“A great deal of the sickness that afflicts humanity has its

origin in the mind and can only be cured by restoring

the mind to health.” EGW T. Vol. 3 p 184

“Remorse for sin sometimes undermines the constitution and unbalances the mind.”

1 John 1:9 tells us that “If weconfess our sins, he is faithful

and just to forgive us oursins, and to cleanse us from

all unrighteousness.”

The Lord created mind / body relationships. According to the Spirit of Prophecy, nine out of ten diseases

in the body originate in the mind. The body sympathizes with the mind. In order for us to be able to purge our minds from dis-ease, one of the most

important principles of mental hygiene that Jesus, the Master Physician provides is found in

Philippians 4:8, it reads as follows: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things

are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,

whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,

whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these

things.”

THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN JUST SEEKING VIBRANT HEALTH.

Often times, transgression of one or more laws of health reflects a transgression of one or more of the spiritual laws.

Not only does the Lord wants us to have a well-balanced and symmetrical character involving our mind and body, our Creator has built in us the will to do his good pleasure. This is a built in

way for us to get to know Him better.

approaching.” Hebrews 10:23-25

The purpose for which theBible was written is foundin Romans 15:4 that says “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

Daniel 1:8 “Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine

which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” Daniel 1:20 “And in

matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and

astrologers that were in all his relam.”

What health principle can we

learn from the Bible about Temperance that is within our

reach?

Matt. 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a

witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

What can we learn from the Bible about the

purpose that drives our existence in this exercise

here on earth. Do the steps we take lead

someone closer to God?

WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM THE BIBLE ABOUT THE HEALING POWER IN EXERCISING THAT HELPS US TO BE OVERCOMERS?

Hebrews 12:1-2 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that

is set before us,Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is

set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Matt. 11:28-30 says: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy

laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto

your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

What can we learn from the Bible about the restoring power within

our reach that comes from resting in the Lord?

2 Cor. 5:21 says: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the

righteousness of God in him.” Malachi 4:2 “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness

arise with healing in his wings.”

What can we learn from the Bible about the healing and

transforming power that can arise within us when

we lift up the Sun of Righteousness?

John 6:32-35 “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh

down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that

believeth on me shall never thirst.”

What can we learn from the Bible about

the healing power within our reach in

partaking of the bread of life?

Genesis 2:7 says: “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and

man became a living soul.” Matt. 15:10-11 “Hear and understand: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.” We need to learn how to express ourselves, using our minds and hearts in a healthy and dignified way that brings

healing into our souls.

What health principle can we learn from the Bible

about the life giving power in the air that God breathed

into our nostrils?

Matt. 22:11-14 “And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he said unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a

wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and

cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.”

What health principle can we learn from the Bible

about our choices of proper dress that brings healing to our souls when we Trust in

God’s promise?

John 4:13-15 “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinkethof the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up

into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.”

What health principle can we learn from the

Bible about the healing power of the water

that Jesus provides as a well springing up into

eternal life?

Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though

they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

3- WHY SHOULD WE PRAY WITHOUT CEASING ?

WHAT PROMISE DO WE HAVE THAT WHEN WE ASK GOD FOR SOMETHING IN PRAYER THAT IS

ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, THAT IT WILL BE GIVEN?

WHEN WE PRAY, HOW CAN WE KNOW THAT GOD HEARS US?

According to 1 John 5:14, “If we ask anything according to his will, he hearethus. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

The Lord asks us in James 5:14-15 “Is any sick among

you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let

them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the

prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise

him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be

forgiven him.”

WHAT IS IT THAT THE LORD ASKS US TO DO WHEN WE ARE SICK?

IF WE ASK GOD FOR A BLESSING, WHAT MUST WE DO ON OUR PART IN ORDER

FOR HIM TO DO HIS PART?

“For verily I say unto you, that whatsoever shall say

unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be

thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his

heart, but shall believe that those things which he

saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever

he saith.” Mark 11:23

Without faith, it is impossible to please

God. However, when I trust in God, and take

Him at His word, according to

Philliapans 4:13 I can say and believe that “I can do all things through Christ that strengtheneth me.”

WHAT PROMISE DO I HAVE THAT GOD IS ABLE TO HEAL ME, IF IT BE IN HIS WILL, EVEN

THOUGH IT MAY SOUND IMPOSSIBLE?

We need to obey God because He loves us.He has our best interests in mind when He asks us to obey.When we do not obey God, We are showing Him that we do not love Him.

preservation of health. He will then answer our prayer, if His name can be glorified

thereby. But let all understand that they have a work to do. God will not work in a miraculous manner to preserve the health of persons who are taking a sure course to

make themselves sick, by their careless inattention to the laws of health.”

WHAT DOES “CONSTITUCIONAL ENERGY” CONSIST OF?

Constitutional Energy is the vital force of a living being.

Each of us has a set or defined amount of time to live.

When we break the laws of health, it is like burning a candle at both

ends. Once we are “burned out”, there is

no way to add the time we have lost.

This is why we need to be careful with the temple of the Holy Spirit

that has been loaned to us.

The eyes, the ears, the sense of smell taste and touch are the 5 senses.

We need to be careful with what wesee, what we hear, with what we touch, what we smell and taste.

Depending on what we let in and goout determines who lives in the

Temple that the Lord has loaned us.

Often times, if it were not for our getting sick, we would not

ask the Lord to come in and take charge in our lives. In

allowing Him to have His own way, for His sake, the paths to our senses must be allowed to be placed under His subjection.

Psalm 23:1-4 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside

the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art

with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

7- WHY DO WE NEED TO TAKECARE OF OUR MINDS ?

When we invite the Lord of Lords to live in this temple, we need to recognize that our minds are sacred.

They are sacred because what we do is regulated be what we think. Our thoughts come from chemical reactions. These chemical reactions come from substances that we have allowed into our bodies.

It is evident that the substances that penetrate the mind govern our judgment. This is why the mind is the most holy place.

Also, this temple is not ours, but the Lord’s.

More than 65 % of the inmates incarcerated in prisons are due to drug related crimes.

WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR SPIRITUAL LIFE WHEN WE PUT MIND ALTERING SUBSTANCES INTO OUR BODIES ?

THESE CHEMICALS PRODUCE EXCITATION AND DEPRESSION IN THE BRAIN THAT IS MANIFESTED BY: ANGER, HATE AND OTHER NEGATIVE EMOTIONS !!!
