Regional Spelling Bee Finals 2018

Three students attended the Regional Spelling Bee finals at Nimmitabel Public School last week. Jordyn Holzhauser and Finn Efraemson represented our school in the Junior competition. Both boys made in through to the final eight students and we are very proud of their efforts. In the Senior competition, Lilli Daly had a tough competition against 26 talented students but made it right through to a nail-biting final. She was the overall runner-up for our region! This is an incredible effort - well done Lilli! Congratulations to all students involved and to their wonderfully supportive families for travelling all the way to

Nimmitabel.

Date for the diary

This year Narooma Public School will be holding a creative expo, which will be an opportunity for children to try a range of creative endeavours.

This year’s theme is heroes. Start collecting arts and craft materials and thinking about things you would like to create.

The 2018 Creative Expo will take place on Wednesday 7th November at school, and will be an opportunity for you to share your creative flair with your peers and families. Watch this space for more information!

Swim School - 22 October to 2 November, 2018 Notes will be coming home for Swim School 2018. This is a great opportunity for students from Year 2 and up to develop water confidence and provide students with basic skills in water safety and survival. The only cost to parents will be entrance to the pool and bus money on wet days.

Fruit & Veg Month 2018

‘Happy Fruit & Veg’tember!’

Fruit & Veg Month 2018 runs for the last 4 weeks of Term 3, Monday 3rd to Friday 28th September.

As part of Fruit & Veg Month, students will be involved in various classroom and school based activities which encourage them to eat more fruit and vegetables.

From next week students can bring along a funny joke on a piece of paper about Fruit and Vegetables and put it in the box, next to the Whale Tails box in the office. We will share these jokes at assembly.

There will be a class competition starting on 3/9/18 and for four weeks you will be able to share a new fruit or vegetable at fruit break time and the winning class will have the highest number of new fruits or vegetables tasted! (Each teacher will bring along a chopping board to cut in to portions). Please feel free to bring in a fresh vegetable from your garden or a fruit that you have bought. Please let your child’s class teacher know if you do not wish to participate.

Good luck to all 18 classes, and lets hope we can increase our children’s intake of fresh foods!

Artwork orders next week! Calendar artwork order forms are being sent home early this week along with a copy of an artwork your child has completed in class.

Please return orders with payment to the school by Friday 21 Sept or pay online through the school website. The fundraising company is also happy to print photographs onto their products – the order form will have details of how to upload these direct to them if this is your preference. They are also happy for a scanned copy of an artwork that your child has completed at home to be uploaded if you prefer.

So please keep an eye out for the order form and support the school, while treating friends and family to some cute artworks AND giving the kids a thrill.

Jump Rope for Heart

Please return all donations to school by Monday,

17th September.

Thank you Many thanks for the generous donation of a drum kit from Ben and Zac Faulkner and family. The Music Department was very excited to receive the kit.
