Habit vs. Enjoyment

Page 2: Habit vs. enjoyment

IntroductionDo you think that if you do the same thing every

day, then you are enjoying what you are doing? For example, if you watch television every day,

do you think to yourself that you enjoy watching television?

Page 3: Habit vs. enjoyment

Is it a habit? However, if you do the same thing every day, then it

might not mean you enjoy doing it. You might develop the habit of watching television. Habits are very tricky and tough to get rid of that

will influence you to believe that what you are doing is enjoyment.

Habits can develop very quickly with just one or two times of doing something.

Page 4: Habit vs. enjoyment

Is it a habit? When you do the same thing over and over

again, your body, mind, and spirit will become use to it, and then it will become a natural thing or in this case a habit.

You will engage into the habit without realizing it.

Action steps• 1. List down everything that you do on a regular basic• 2. For each thing, answer the following questions:– Do you engage into it without realizing it?– Do you lose focus or lack of interest after a short period of time

doing it? – Are you easily distracted by what you are doing? – Do you sometimes believe that what you are doing is a waste of

time and that you should be doing something else?– Do you engage into it because you believe there is nothing else

or better for you to do?– Do you engage into it to pass time?

Page 6: Habit vs. enjoyment

Is it a habit?• If you answer yes to at least two of the questions, then

what you are doing is a habit, and not something you enjoy doing.

• When you enjoy doing something, then you will look forward to the same activity the next time.

• For example, if you enjoy watching television and it is over, then you will look forward to watching television again the next time.

• Most importantly, you will give your complete attention to the activity.

Action steps3. For the things that have become habits, you want to

come up with something else that you might enjoy doing so you can substitute for your habits.

This is your chance to explore new things. You will be surprised on what you will enjoy doing, but

you never get the chance to because your habits have taken up all of your time.

4. Have the new activity ready for you to do when your habit starts to kick in. You want to be ready.
