On top of an extremely hectic time of returning from on-line learning and settling students back into routines teachers are currently preparing Semester 1 academic reports. The format of these reports will be slightly different given the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools have been directed to provide a simplified written report which describes student progress and achievement covered during Semester 1 without the five point A-E achievement scale. Student reports for Semester 2 will return to our original report format. Semester 1 reports will be sent home Week 10 of this term and parent-teacher interviews will be offered in Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 3 for parents who would like a more in depth discussion on their childs progess and learning goals. Congratulations to our Infants students who began the READ TO 3 FROM 3 to 3 challenge again last week. It was wonderful to see so many students across Kindergarten, Year One and Year Two successfully read each night. Each day, from 3:00pm one day to 3:00pm the next, students are encouraged to read their home reader to 3 different people. These people can be: At home - Mum, Dad, Gran, the baby brother, the big sister. In the community - the neighbour, mum’s best friend, a bus buddy At school other students, the teachers, other adults including Mrs Jamieson, Mrs Smith, Miss Paton, Mrs Craig, Mrs Elliott, Mrs Post or Mrs Somerville. Everyone is excited about our Infants students reading to us and become better readers because of it. Each week sees more and more normal routines return to Gundagai Public with teachers and students now focussed on learning and reintroducing some extra curricula activities we all love.

These people can be:

• At home - Mum, Dad, Gran, the baby brother, the big sister.

• In the community - the neighbour, mum’s best friend, a bus buddy

• At school –other students, the teachers, other adults including Mrs Jamieson, Mrs Smith, Miss Paton, Mrs Craig, Mrs Elliott, Mrs Post or Mrs Somerville.

Everyone is excited about our Infants students reading to us and become better readers because of it.

YEAR 6 PARLIAMENT EDUCATION OFFICE Year 6 had an informative and engaging Zoom lesson with the Parliamentary Education Office last week. The lesson complimented the history unit being studied by the class and covered Federation and the three levels of government. Students had the chance to ask questions and extended their understanding about democracy, Parliament House, the House of Representative and Senate. The PEO is the Education Department of Parliament House and is offering the Zoom lessons as an alternative to onsite visits. Parliamentary Educator Lara Ghaly, who ran the lesson, complimented the class on their excellent behaviour and in-depth questioning.

DRINK BOTTLES Students will need to bring their own drink bottle each day.

For Health and Safety reasons, students are unable to drink from the bubblers.

PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE The NSW Premier's Reading Challenge began in early March and continues until Friday 28 August so there is plenty of time for everyone to complete the challenge. Our Infants students will complete the challenge at home whilst our Primary students are encouraged to read at home, but will keep their cards at school and fill them in as they complete a Reading Challenge book. Please support this wonderful challenge which aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and enables them

to experience quality literature.
