Term 1 Week 2 6 February 2020
Principal’s Message Dear Parents and Carers,
We are so excited to be back and ready for another year
of great growth and learning! We have missed the
familiar faces of our students and it is surprising to see
how much they have matured and grown taller! Routines
have changed slightly so updates will be listed in our
school newsletter each fortnight.
Welcome
Naveah, Amara and Elijiah are the newest members of
our Brungle PS family and they are already settling in to
big school. We welcome all of our parents (both new and
returning) and we look forward to a shared vision for
student growth this year, especially in Literacy and
Numeracy.
Teaching Staff
A new face joins our teaching team this year and we are
sure Mr Michael Dahler (or Mr D as the kids know him) is
going to enjoy working with the regular faces of Miss
Brodie Kerr and myself. Ms Jill McDonald is in the office
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays of each week.
Routines
Drop off - Parents must reverse park along the left hand
side of the drive near the new trees for both drop off and
afternoon pick up. Students hang up their bags and take
their lunchboxes over to the weather-shed along the
path. Students are released from the main classroom in
the afternoons. No student should be on the road during
these times and we appreciate your support in keeping
them safe.
Morning Session - it is important that all students arrive on
time for the morning Literacy session. Kindergarten and
Stage 1 children (Infants) work with Miss Kerr in the Library
classroom while the Primary students work in the
main classroom for Literacy and Maths.
Lunch - at Brungle PS, we have lunch first then playtime.
Mid Session - Infants initially work with Miss Kerr then move
to the main classroom for Maths activities. Primary
Students continue with Literacy activities.
Recess - the second break allows students some time for
snacks and play.
Afternoon Session - All students work together on different
tasks or collaborative activities in the main classroom.
Driveway - please do not stop or park on the right hand
side of the driveway. This area must be kept clear and
away from all playground areas.
Readers
In the coming weeks, students will be taking readers
home to practice skills learnt during the day. Please
return them clean and intact as they are very expensive.
We are still waiting for a number to be returned from last
year.
Crunch'n'Sip
Students are encouraged to bring in a piece of fruit or
vegetable for sharing each day. Miss Kerr cuts up the fruit
and prepares a fruit platter for a mid-morning break.
Parents are welcome to pack additional fruit for your own
children as well.
Lunchboxes
Please be aware that peanut butter or any nuts or nut
products should NOT be brought to school due to health
and safety concerns regarding allergies. Teachers
monitor eating times and encourage students to eat the
healthy options before any snacks. If children cannot
finish everything, they pack it back in their bags so
parents can adjust how much food they need during the
day. Water bottles must ONLY contain water.
Hats
All schools have a "No Hat No Play" Policy to support sun
safety. Taking pride in our uniform is essential so please
leave the casual hats at home. Students who forget to
bring their school hat have options to play in shady
areas. Hats can be purchased at the office Tuesday to
Thursday.
Great to see you all and I look forward to an exciting
year ahead.

Kindergarten 2020 – Welcome to Elijiah, Naveah & Amara
Senior Constables Mick Kennedy & Nathan Johns popped in for a visit on Monday
3rd February. They hail from Newcastle and have been visiting schools in our fire
affected areas. They have also been helping farmers around Batlow and
Tumbarumba. Students had a unique opportunity to talk to them about their roles in
the force and we have a few budding officers interested in following this path. Great
to see our students talking about their future hopes and dreams. The Primary students
also shared our Acknowledgement of Country with them as they are from Awabakal and Worimi Country.
