It started as a gimmick to get attention, according to a CNN article. The most renowned Christian verse, perhaps it is one many commit to memory . ACTION: Commit John 3:16 to memory if you don’t already know it. If y ou do, say it as a grace over your meal today . TUESDAY: I John 4 Love the One who is love REFLECTION: We throw this word around saying, “I love chocolate,” or , “I love this song; it’s my jam.” God is love. Let’s save our “I love” statements for meani ngful expressions. PRA YER: God, I love you because______________. WEDNESDAY: Luke 10:27 “What the World Needs Now is Love” (Dionne Warwick video)  REFLECTION: Love is power . Power to transform, heal and bring joy. Be a vessel of God’s love and share with the world. ACTION: As children, perhaps we believed in the power of love more fully. Connect with your childlike self by coloring a picture depicting love. PRA YER: Increase my faith in you, Lovely God. THURSDAY: Acts 2:1-4 The spirited church REFLECTION: T oo often, the Holy Spirit is mentioned but not encountered by the church. How can this be, when the church’s very creation is made possible by the Spirit? ACTION: Describe a time when you knew (not felt) and were assured of God’s presence in the Spirit. Journal, think and/or share with someone. FRIDAY: Acts 2:1-13 The diverse church REFLECTION: The rst church, like now, was made up of diverse people, in thought and tongue, an imperfect people, brought together by the power of the spirit, to speak and live as Christ followers. PRA YER: Bless this, your church, Missouri UMC. May we, as a diverse and i mperfect people, be brought together by the power of your spirit. SATURDAY: Acts 2:14-40 Preach, Peter! REFLECTION: Calling on the Prophet Joel, Peter explains that the rush of the spirit was foretold. He preached about Jesus, crucied and resurrected, and to the people gathered to give themselves to the Way of Living, not the way of their pseudo- sacred culture. PRA YER: Ready me to h ear tomorrow’s sermon. Make me open. Be with the preacher, and may the words spoken reach, te ach and transform us like Peter’s sermon did so long ago.
