CreativeMovementThis class is an introduction to movement in a fun environment. Young dancers will learn basic coordination and motor skill development as they are guided through experimenting with different movement, exploring new ways to move, and improvising. Ages 3-4: Wednesdays from 5:45-6:15 pm

Ballet/TapComboYoung dancers will learn to control their bodies in exercises designed to encourage body awareness, strength, and creativity. They will also begin to learn both ballet terminology and steps, and tap coordination and rhythm. Ages 5-7: Wednesdays from 6:15-7 pm

BalletLevel 1 – ages 7-11: Thursdays from 6:15-7:15 pm Ballet is the basis for many styles of dance technique. Ballet 1 is the first level for students formal dance training. This class will teach students the basic steps and terminology of ballet focusing on technique and discipline. Level 2 – ages 9 and up: Thursdays from 5-6:15 pm This class is designed for students who have graduated from level one and also for older beginners. Placement is based on instructor recommendation because it builds on what was learned in Ballet 1. This class will teach steps and terminology of ballet, in addition to developing coordination, self-confidence, and discipline. Level 3 – ages 12 and up: Tuesdays from 6-7:15 and Fridays from 4-5:15 pm This class is designed for students who have graduated from level two. Placement is based on instructor recommendation because it builds on what was learned in the previous level. This class will teach steps and terminology of ballet, in addition to developing coordination, self-confidence, and artistry. Teen Adult Ballet 1/2 – ages 12 and up: Wednesdays from 7-8:15 pm This class is recommended for older beginners and second year dance students. It will focus on gaining flexibility and learning the steps and terminology of ballet in addition to developing coordination, self-confidence, and artistry.

JazzLearn jazz steps and technique with an emphasis on developing flexibility and strength. Jazz steps are the basis for much of the choreography in musical theatre and other forms of contemporary dance. Level 1 – ages 7-11: Thursdays from 4-5 pm Teen/Adult Jazz 1 – ages 12 and up: Thursdays from 7:15-8:15 Level 2 - ages 10 and up: Tuesdays from 7:15-8:30

TapBeginning and continuing tap students will learn basic tap steps and combinations. Students will explore accents and musicality in this fun, rhythmic dance style. Level 1 – ages 7 and up: Tuesdays from 4-5 pm Level 2 – ages 10 and up: Tuesdays from 5-6 pm

HipHopHip-hop is a high energy, aerobic form of dance that evolved from freestyle street dance. In this class, dancers will learn basic moves and choreography to music by Christian hip-hop artists and will be encouraged to discover and develop their own individual style. After warming up with isolations and stretches, the class will focus on rhythm, upper body strength, and funky footwork. Level 1 – ages 7-11: Mondays from 5-6 pm Level 2 – ages 10 and up: Mondays from 6-7 pm Teen/Adult Hip Hop 1 – ages 12 and up: Mondays from 7-8 pm

PerformanceCompanySecond year or higher students ages 10 and up are encouraged to audition for this group. Dancers will perform a fall show, a spring show, and have several other performances throughout the school year. THEATRE.Studiesconsistentlyshowthatreceivingactingandtheatreeducationfromanearlyagehelpsstudentsacademically,especiallyintheareasofreadingcomprehension,narrativewriting,reasoning,memorization,andsocialinteraction.Theatreisnotonlyfun,it’spractical!Greenleaf’stheatreprogramoffersclassesforstudentsage6throughadultinawelcoming,encouragingenvironment.Wetrainstudentsthroughaprogressivecurriculumofimprovisation,speechandelocutiontraining,movementexercises,sceneandensemblework,andactingtheory.Wealsoofferclassesthatfocusonspecificaspectsofacting,suchasimprovormusicaltheatre.Ourstudentplaysandmusicalseachspringgiveyoungactorsachancetoperformandservethecommunitythroughacting.Actorstypicallybenefitfromseveralyearsateachlevelinordertoachieveskillmasteryandconfidence.Eachyear,newexercisesandscenesareincorporatedsothattheclassesarealwaysfun,exciting,andchallengingforyoungactors.Allclasseswillparticipateinanactingshowcaseattheendofeachsemester.TheatrestudentswillalsohavetheopportunitytoauditionforGreenleafproductions.

MUSICALTHEATRE‐ages9‐15Acting, singing, and choreography come together in this exciting class! Students will work on vocal technique, ensemble acting, and basic dance steps as they put together showstopping numbers from various musicals. Tuesdays from 6-7 pm First semester: September 6-November 29/Second semester: February 7-May 1

IMPROV‐13toadultImprovisational theatre is an incredible skill building and fun experience. You and your friends will be amazed at how you can begin to develop a sketch on the spot from just a few audience suggestions. This class focuses on teamwork and quick thinking! Not only does improv develop great acting ability, but also great relationship skills. What do blocking, wimping, raising the stakes and accepting mean? Learn these terms and how to create entertainment from scratch! Level 1: Mondays 4-5 pm Level 2/3 (by instructor invitation): Mondays 5-6 pm. First semester: September 12-December 5/Second semester: February 6-April 30

EvenMonthlyPaymentsforIndividualClasses

Students must pay for the term with postdated checks or preauthorized credit/debit card payments at the time of registration. There is a $20 registration fee per student or $30 per family. Recital fees for two spring recitals are included for instrumental students. There is an additional $35 accompanist fee for vocal students. This charge may be deducted only if a student opts out of all recitals from the beginning of the semester. All dance recital fees, including costume and two free tickets are included in tuition.
