PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

What a tremendous assembly we had last Friday. There were so many brilliant achievements to be celebrated in academic areas, sporting and social skills. Congratulations to all award winners. Quite a few of our students achieved in the top 10-20% of the country in a mathe-matics competition and several achieved merits, credits and distinctions as well.

The most impressive part of the assembly was the way in which the students were able to sit so respectfully throughout for quite a long time. Teachers work hard to emphasise the importance of being consider-ate and respectful of those on stage by teaching good audience behaviour.

Coming up very soon is our school art exhibition. Next Tuesday 4th December, from 4-6pm our art exhibition will officially be opened to all friends and family. All students will have at least one piece of artwork on display in the hall. Support your child by coming along to see their piece of work and what our school achieves in visual arts across years K-6. Join us for afternoon tea and view the magnificent art works on display.

The exhibition will then be open, for families only, each morning from 8.30-8.55am. Students may take their family members through the exhi-bition at this time. Classes will view the exhibition during the day on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving what we do each year, shortly our school will be phoning a 20% sample of families. We will be asking two questions. The first is to do with your overall satisfaction with the school and the second is to determine your knowledge of your child’s learning goals. So if you get a call from someone saying they’re from Green Valley PS for a quick survey, it is correct. Please give them a couple of minutes of your time to help us gauge how we’re going as a school.

Thank you for your support of our concert this year. I couldn't be proud-er of how the students performed both on stage and behind the scenes in the holding rooms. Thank you to our P&C for the supply of the snacks to get through the night. Your involvement is always greatly appreciated.
