Letter from the Presidentw 4 Hello Green Valley Key Club!
I hope your AP testing season went smooth and dandy. May the
curve forever be in your favor! Aside from the crazy AP testing
season, I am proud to announce that our club successfully pulled
through and continued to make a difference by investing time
and effort into community service this past month. Dear GVKC
members, you never fail to amaze me with every step you take.
Graduation is near, but this does not mean that you seniors have to say
goodbye! Stay connected by joining the Key Club International Alumni
and continue the legacy. For more information, click here.
Summer is just around the corner! (Who else is counting down
the days?) Because Key Club is an all-year-round club, the
GVKC board has some cool summer service events prepared for
our club. I hope you're as excited as I am, because this summer
is going to be AMAZING with all you Key Clubbers! :)
Please remember to check out our website at gvkeyclub.com regularly
as it gets updated. Stay tuned over the summer and don't miss out on
these ecstatic summer activities! Also, don't forget to subscribe to our
email and/or text message updates, both of which are available on our
website.
With that, I wish you all another fabulous month filled with the
joy of service.
Serving in love,
Ji Eun Bae

Chelsea Santos:
“I had fun making posters for the advertisement and
teacher appreciation poster because it brought me
closer to my fellow key clubbers, we had a great bond-
ing time making them! I also loved helping out on this
event because our advisor, Mr.Patai, is also a great
English teacher and he helped us a lot this year. We
couldn’t thank him enough. Making him a poster felt
great also because he hung it up in his classroom to
show how much he liked it and it made us feel great
after the work we all have put in making the posters”.
Colin Hoang:
“We made posters that encouraged people at Green
Valley to join the chili cook off and advertise the spam
musubis we made for that same event. I had fun be-
cause most of our members participated which was
great!”.

Megan Leavitt: “Chili cook off was a great experience because we got to bond with our whole Kiwanis family. I felt like we got closer with Key Clubbers from our division and ate some amazing chili while doing it. I would definitely do this again if I weren’t graduating this year. Overall, this even was great for a Saturday afternoon”. Chelsea Santos: “The chili cook off was fun because we sold a lot of Colin’s yummy spam musubis and it was a great way to bond with my fellow key clubbers from around our state. We had lot’s of fun selling them and we did not have any conflicts at all! The customers that we sold the spam musubis to, were very satisfied and meeting up with the non key clubbers that went because of our great advertise-ment also had lots of fun”.

Zarina Aure:
“Making plastic mats for the homeless was fun because it
helped me get closer with my fellow key club members while
we all help the community. It also made me realize how much
help we could give the community without really buying any-
thing except just collecting plastic mats (yay recycle).
I would love to have more events like this not just because it
helps the community, but also brings all the key clubbers
closer to each other.”
Nia Fernandez:
“On May 5th, I ran from my last class to our meeting room to
make plastic mats because I actually enjoy this service. We set
up an assembly kind of line where people folded the plastic
bags, others cut a specific bag color into strips, and a few tied
the strips into knots. Ms. Santee and other Green Valley Ki-
wanis members were there to teach a few of our members to
crochet the knots we made. Everyone looked like they had fun
and the best part was everyone who attended contributed on
the production of the plastic mats being made for homeless
teens of Nevada“.
Vincent Nguyen: “During Relay for Life, I had the exceptional opportunity to listen to
various eye-tearing survivors who simultaneously gave me hope to do
great things in my life. The survivor stories were highly inspirational
and I felt glad I attended this event to help facilitate their fundraiser.
In addition, I had a lot of fun getting closer to my fellow Key Club-
bers through a potluck and various volleyball games. For one night I
had fun while helping people with cancer. What more could I ask for?
Over all the event was a great experience”
Ji Eun Bae: “In the name of The BAE-st Team Ever, the team members and I had
a blast at the annual South Youth Relay For Life. Not only did we
bond as a team by playing volleyball, enjoying a potluck, having un-
precedented conversations, and just being at the event altogether, but
we also proudly raised $320 as a team in a short amount of time of
approximately a month. Next year, we hope to have more available
chaperons, more team members, and more funds raised for this cause.
Relay For Life, as always, was a great way for our club to bond and
celebrate the end of AP exams”.
Zarina Aure: “Relay for life was one of the best experiences in my first year of key
club. It definitely brought me so much closer to my fellow key club-
bers, we had that special bond that every club should have! I cant
wait for next year’s Relay For Life. Hopefully there will be more of
us !”
