Green Globe is aim at sustainable tourism and the way of global trav

el and tourism industries certification program. The members from

Green Globe save valuable resources such as energy, solar, water an

d reduce operational costs. Green Globe Members are contribute to t

he communities, environment, sustainable tourism and meet the expe

ctations of green tourism and business tourists.

Green Globe Certification is active in harmonizing with other establi

shed sustainability certification programs around the world. The proc

ess of harmonization contributes to maintaining core criteria and at t

he same time addresses regional issues through the adoption of locall

y developed standards (Green Globe, 2012). The Green Globe Stand

ard is a structured assessment which to help travel and tourism busin

esses and their supply chain partners in sustainability performance.

Businesses can monitor their enterprises sustainable operation and

management improvements and achievements certification results.

Cosmo Hotel Mongkok is located at the heartland of Kowloon

Pennisula in Mongkok - Hong Kong's most celebrated jumble for the

Negative Impacts

that the environment and service is pleasant that will attract a large

few days there. However, some data from "ASIAROOMS" (2012)

shows that the scores ofCosmo Hotel Mongkok from the tourists who had stay in the

hotel before in aspect of "hotel food" and "value for money" are only 4 out of 6. First of all, thespace of the room is not enough. The room was extremely small by standards, hardly enough room

for suitcases and just one pipe with four hangers to hang up your clothes. The bathroom is part of

the room, no sound isolation. However, it's not any smaller than those rooms one would find in

other boutique hotels in this land scarce city. In addition, as the room is too small so that the bed is

only 1.8 meters which is not comfortable for the people whose height over 1.8m. Most European

people always complain that.

Strengthens of Certification Program in relation to Cosmo Hotel Mongkok

Meares and Sargent (2003) has demonstrated that technology

certificate programs provide opportunities and concentrated venue

professionals who wish to upgrade their skills.

According to Green Globe Certification standard criteria in four

element: sustainable management; social economic; cultural heritage

Weaknesses of Certification Program in relation to Cosmo Hotel Mongkok

The weakness I found is that although they outline things such as reducing pollution, greenhouse

emissions and reduce the impact on environment. The hotel is still proceeding with activities that

are having negative effects on the environment, like the use of air conditioning or sewage

discharged into the surrounding park and so on. These all violate the Green Globe

Certification Program but still inevitable.

To sum up, sustainable development in tourism industry is a serious program. Cosmo Hotel

Mongkokas a member of Green Globe still has a few issues in their operating process.

Nevertheless, it has started to achieve their sustainable developing goal with the certificationcriteria and will have more progress in the future development.
