iBb Program Description

• iBb (inside Berks business) helps students of Berks County by providing their teachers with real‐life experiences within businesses across the county.

• Teachers spend a 4‐day week interning with a specific business. During this experience the teacher will learn about the business and complete work as any regular intern would.

• Teachers can then use this knowledge to supplement their lessons and provide students first‐hand knowledge on potential job opportunities in the future.

• My business experience before internship…

Why do we have state senators?• State Senators, similar to U.S. senators, represent the wishes of citizens. They work to provide services and pass bills that will help their constituents. A major difference is that they represent a district within their state, rather than the entire state.

Project Abstract #1 Summary

• Civics, Unit 4: State & Local Government• Helping moderate a “Model Senate” type group.  Similar to a Model UN, which simulates the actions of members of the State Senate, this would simulate the actions/responsibilities of a PA Senator. I have talked to several of the Senator’s staff and they are ready to implement a Model Senate at local schools for this school year.

Project Abstract #2 Summary

• Civics, Unit 5: Economics• In Economics students are educated about jobs in America (unemployment, acquiring jobs, etc). After the internship I will have students complete a research assignment in which they research a job within the county. They will inquire (via internet, email, visits) about the company’s history, functioning, and job opportunities.  For several of them this will be their first real “job hunt”.
