Grandpa’s Fantastic Number Machine!

What setting does the dial need to be set to

so that Glob gets the following answers? The

first one is done for you.

“No, no Glob! You’re not supposed to

put flour in it!” Grandpa cried.

“Then what’s it for?” Glob asked,

poking at the strange machine.

“It’s a number machine,” Grandpa

sighed. “You put a number in at the

top then turn the dial to the function

you want. The machine carries out

the function for you and then spits

out an answer.”

“What’s a function?”

“Either Add, Subtract, Divide or

Multiply,” Grandpa explained.

“Oh,” Glob said, “So it doesn’t make

custard then?”

“No it does not!”

maybe I’d try and

sell my number

machine. Maybe

you could make

me a poster,”

Grandpa

suggested. “Of

course it would

need a picture and

a price. Oh and

don’t forget a list

of features.”

“Anything else?”

“Yes make it look

really good!”
