2017 Grade 5 students are asked to read 2 books. 1. Required reading - choose from the selected list of books, then choose a project to go with this book - project completed at home. 2. Free book of choice - project completed at school. Students will complete a project of their choice from the list below to go with their requireed reading choice and bring it with them on the first day of school. Project Outline Please choose one project from the list provided: Diorama : Make a shadow box or diorama displaying your favorite scene. Be sure to include any characters that were present along with anything else that was important. Please write a 5-7-sentence paragraph explaining what is displayed. Timeline : Make a timeline of the important events that happened in the story. Make sure your events go in the order that they came in the book. Write one to two sentences about what happened when the event happened. You must include 10 events. Do not include the last chapter on the timeline. We do not want to give away the ending. Instead, end the timeline with a stimulating question to utilize the skill of predicting outcomes. Be creative, neat, and colorful. Comic Book : Write a comic book that tells about your favorite part of the book. The comic strip should have a minimum of 10 scenes or sections. Include comic-style illustrations in color.
