NOTES:

l "Return Side" denotes the Twisted-pair return, to be connected to signal ground. For interface wiring, be sure to use

a twisted-pair cable for each signal and complete the connection on the return side. To prevent noise, these cables

should be shielded and connected to the chassis of the host computer.

l All of the interface conditions are TTL. The rising time and falling time of any signal should be 0.2us or less.

l Never transmit data without checking ACKNLG and BUSY. (Data should only be transmitted to this printer after

confirming that ACKNLG is active, or when BUSY is "LOW".)

l The interface cable should be as short as possible.

1.6 Control Codes and Functions 1.6.1 CR

Name: Carriage Return

Code: 0DH

Function: This code is same as LF.

1.6.2 LF

Name: Line Feed

Code: 0AH

Function: When this code is received, the data in the buffer is printed and the paper is advanced one line.

If there is no printable data preceding this code, or if all codes before this code are space codes, this code advances the

paper one line without printing anything.

Line spacing is 1/6 inch.

1.6.3 FP

Name: Form Feed

Code: 0BH+n (1<=n<=20)

Function: Rapid Paper Feeding is generated after printing for one line by inputting Parameter Data after this code (Rapid

Paper Feed Code). It will be read 20 in the memory when the data comes 20 or over 20. In case of zero “0” on data, it

will be read as “1”.

1.6.4 HP

Name: Head Position

Code: 13H+n (1<=n<=32)

Function: The Head Position including the Space code by inputting Parameter Code after this code can be generated. In

case of 32 and over 32 on Parameter or Print Buffer Data, it will be set on 32.

1.6.5 PR

Name: Paper Release Code

Code: 12H

Function: Paper Release Code. After printing for one line, the paper can be released by inputting this code. Over 29

digits one printing can not be allowed for one line.

1.6.6 CAN

Name: Cancel Code

Code: 18H

Function: Cancel Code. Clearing out all memory for one line from Print Buffer by inputting this code.

1.6.7 LC

Name: Set enlarged printing

Code: 11H+n (32<=n<=255)

Function: Large Character Code. The character of data code following this code can be enlarged. Data code from 00H to

1FH will be regarded as the space. This code is released at every character.

CHAPTER 3

Troubleshooting

3.1 OVERVIEW

Because of the variety of symptoms that may occur according to the site of the problem, troubleshooting can be quite

difficult. To simplify entry into the actual repair procedures, however, this chapter groups them into the two categories

below:

(1) Repair by unit replacement

(2) Repair of the units

First, follow the procedures for repair by unit replacement to isolate the defective element within that unit. For all

information on the troubleshooting procedures for the printer mechanism, refer to the separate “GP-965 Technical

Manual.”

3.2 GENERAL PRECAUTIONS

Please pay attention to the following notes for the operation of GP-965 slip printer.

Power on:

Turn on the power of ECR first, then power on the slip printer.

Power off:

Turn off the power of the slip printer first, then power off ECR.

Operation message:

While operating the GP-965 slip printer, if GP-965 slip printer has paper, but ECR display the message that GP-965 slip

printer has no paper, please turn off the power of GP-965 slip printer, then turn on it again.

3.3 REPAIR BY UNIT REPLACEMENT

This section is organized on the basis of the surface phenomena that accompany the occurrence of a problem, allowing

you to distinguish between troubles on a unit basis. Table 3-1 lists the main units of this printer, and Table 3-2 lists the

instruments you will require. Table 3-3 lists each surface phenomena and the page of this chapter the corresponding

flowchart can be found.
