Diane’s Tips
• Review how to “read” a journal• Review how to send the journal to the trainer• How do I install an update• Remember:
– To use the menus, you must be in the program.– To read a journal, you must be in the program or
in the electronic reader.– A participant “could” get a registration error
message and still be registered. “Continue on.”

Real World Example 1• Did you receive my scavenger hunt? I saved
this around 4:30 when Brandy, Jill and I met this afternoon. When I got home this evening & began to work some more, I discovered it was not there. I am hoping that it is not lost. I will wait to hear from you before I proceed on. Thanks for your help & patience. P.S. I am feeling like the typical student giving an excuse….the dog ate my homework, instead, the computer has hid my information from me.
Real World Example 2
OK, I am really frustrated right now. I did the overview last night and typed all my answers where it told me to and now I have nothing! Do I have to do it all again?
Real World Example 3
• Hi! My program will still to allow me to register, so I try to save everything and print often. However, while I was still doing the overview, I was completing the scavenger hunt and I thought I was typing in the journal. I typed all 5 answers and waited to print. Well, I evidently typed in the wrong spot because it didn’t save. (I must have been on the blank pages that Missy is referring to.) So, I retyped all of my answers in a Word document and printed them off. I did the same thing for the online questions (reflective essay questions). Since I wasn’t sure, I just typed them on a Word Document to be safe. Has everyone else successfully registered? Have you talked to the Tech gurus, Linda?
Real World Example 4
I know there is a reader on the flash drive. Do I right click on it? If so, which of the files on the flash drive is the reader? Do I click on save alt or do I right click and copy the reader? The steps aren’t very clear to someone with little tech expertise like me.
Mentoring “Rules” & Assessment
• Option 4 Rules…
• Mentor Form Diane emailed Monday eve.• How a Mentor is Acquired• The “Plan to Diane” Process - REQUIRED• The Approval Process• The Mentee Evaluation - visits; email, phone

Other Topics
• Time breakdown of session– In manual
• Numbers on screen shots – Numbering system with new USB drives
• If participant misses a Face to Face session They can do what they missed on self directed.
• You need to make it clear how participants are to send you journal (all, pieces, etc.)
Remember!
• Your sponsor has downloaded promo clips you can show to promote the GES. Showing parts of the flash drive program is not allowed.
• Certificates can be accessed online (address is on wikispace) by participants AFTER the sponsoring agency has affirmed that the participant has completed the GES and the project satisfactorily. Some regions will provide their own directly, not online.
What Do You GES Trainers NOT Know How To Do?????
A mind stretched to a new idea never returns to its original position! Neither does a leg!

Peer Review Journal
• When a participant selects an annotated bibliography project…there is an Editorial Review Board listed in the front of the magazine. Some magazines have really good content, but are not peer reviewed. Prufrockpress.com provides access to peer-reviewed journals.
• A list of some journals that are peer reviewed is provided on trainers’ wikispace.
More About Questions for Interview Project - one ? in each area
Knowing, Perspectives, Differentiation and Models
Interviewer should ask interviewee a Probing Question related to each of the modules in the seminar. For example, how are students identified in your building? What myths do you feel still persist? How is instruction differentiated for learners in your building?
Which of the curriculum models do you use and why? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using this model?
Ask the Coordinator
What happens to the documents completed by the participants? Who keeps the documentation regarding each of the participant’s completion and grades (if taken for college credit)? What do you want? When? Is there an instructor of record in the sponsoring agency? Who is responsible for assigning grades?
Questions, Last Words?????
