Corporate ProfileOrigins of the GeoGroup Companies

Geomechanics cc was founded in 1989 by Dave Rossiter, to service the Geotechnical drilling and soil and rock testing market. The GeoGroup of companies is the culmination of over 23 years of contracting experience in the civil, mining and exploration fields under the leadership of the major shareholder, who, together with his partners, has grown the businesses into a formidable entity of over $24m annual turnover.

Through uncompromising integrity, we have built long term relationships and partnerships with our clients, suppliers and business partners which have sustained the group through two world-wide recessions.

In 2000 we started a gradual process of branching out into drilling for the exploration industry and today, through a continued policy of upgrading of staff and equipment through training, replacement and maintenance, Geomechanics is one of the leaders in its field.

Geomech Africa (Pty) Ltd, started in 2006, has a class 4 BEE rating. As a group, Geomech Africa (Pty) Ltd and Geomechanics cc, we employ over 250 people with access to over 60 drill rigs. We satisfy the general SED requirements with respect to female participation (five office based) and senior to middle management black employees.

In 2011 GeoPile Africa (Pty) Ltd acquired the exclusive agency to supply the DUKTUS driven ductile iron pile system to Africa.

The Group has access to over 4000 square meters of factory space, a workshop of 2200 square meters and 1000 square meters of office space. All of which is conveniently situated near the airport at Lanseria, north of Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Samson Sebanda Drilling SchoolGeomechanics has established the Samson Sebanda Drilling School to ensure that all employees and potential employees are fully skilled in the safe operation of drill rigs under all conditions. The school consists of a 12 -seater classroom for theoretical work, a practical training area and a training drill site.
