Greetings to the participants of Interexpo GEO-Siberia 2016 Dear colleagues,
The epoch of global changes is marked by the development and formation of information society that is based on the key innovation: global information-and-communication system. The focus of this system is information infrastructure of the global socium, the whole set of information channels, media networks, technologies and information resources, penetrating global social environment. Information flows are to be regulated and represented in specific geo-environment of the territory, states, and the continent. Current world achievements of earth sciences put forward new objectives of geo-environment system as a basis for the development of integrated information-and-communication environment to provide various needs in spatial information. Electronic geospace is to be presented as a constituent part of state programs on society informatization and economic development. Geoinformation support for the sustainable development of the territories and the society should be put in the forefront. GIS support is a new type of activities based on computer- and GIS technologies which are to meet economic and social needs in divers spatial information on the territories by collecting data, generating geoinformation, its integration in the uniform GIS
environment, monitoring, territory modelling, spatial analysis, development of spatial solutions, visualization and distribution.
For twelve years the International exhibition and scientific congress “Interexpo Geo-Siberia” have been a technological platform for professional communication of scientists from different continents. New projects, ideas and models for cluster communication which are born here make great contribution into sustainable development of territories as a basis for creating innovative models of efficient management.
Due to its openness and multidiscipline character “Interexpo Geo-Siberia” is both nationwide and international forum for discussion and communication. It is here that decisions are made as concerns scientific, innovative and technological leadership of the Russian economy and higher education. We are much obliged to the forum partners for their great contribution to the development of GIS technologies aimed at the new economic problems solution. We wish all the participants fruitful discussions and finding new sources and opportunities for business expansion. Sincerely yours,
Prof. Dr. Alexander Karpik Rector of SSUGT

Greetings to the participants of Interexpo GEO-Siberia 2016 Dear colleagues! On behalf of the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE), I am pleased to extend my congratulations to the XII International Exhibition and Scientific Forum Interexpo GEO-Siberia-2016, organized by the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies (SSUGT), to be held on 20-22 April 2016 in Novosibirsk, Russia. I appreciate the fact that SSUGT has successfully organized this conference which stands as an international platform for presenting significant scientific breakthroughs and creates a sound basis for academic exchange in the sphere of geosciences. ISDE will co-organize a Digital Earth workshop during this conference, and we highly appreciate the contributions and valuable support from SSUGT. ISDE recognizes SSUGT as an active partner involved in the fields of Earth science and geoinformation, and a leading research organization in the fields of remote sensing, photogrammetry and geodesy. We believe that many of the SSUGT
and ISDE objectives are linked and hope that this joint workshop will lead to more collaboration and sharing of academic views. ISDE is an international scientific organization founded in Beijing in May 2006, aiming to promote academic exchanges, scientific and technological innovation, education and international collaboration towards a one-world vision of Digital Earth. ISDE has successfully organized nine symposia and five summits in ten countries since its establishment. The birth and fast growth of big data have brought opportunities and challenges to Digital Earth and moved forward its concept from “putting Earth into the computer” to Big Earth Data. In this new era, the Digital Earth concept should integrate massive, multi-spatial, multi-temporal, multi-resolution, and multi-mode Earth observation and socioeconomic data as well as analyze algorithms and models fully committed to big data. So under the theme "Digital Earth in the Era of Big Data”, ISDE will organize the 6th Digital Earth Summit in Beijing on 6-7 July, 2016 together with a celebration of the tenth anniversary of ISDE. The summit will provide an international platform focusing on the applications and technologies of Digital Earth for a new direction of development and advancement in the context of big data. I also welcome all the participants to share their most recent research results while experiencing many social and networking opportunities in Beijing. We believe that the excellent atmosphere of the conference in Novosibirsk, the variety of scientific topics covered and the keynote speakers for Digital Earth can ensure vibrant discussions and good attendance for Interexpo GEO-Siberia-2016. Greetings to the participants of Interexpo GEO-Siberia 2016 Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On 25 September 2015 the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted. Between now and 2030 countries have agreed to end poverty and hunger everywhere; combat inequalities within and among countries; build peaceful, just and inclusive societies; protect human rights and promote gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls; ensure the lasting protection of the planet and its natural resources; and create conditions for sustainable, inclusive and sustained economic growth, shared prosperity and decent work for all, taking into account different levels of national development and capacities. The 2030 Agenda is in fact ”a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom and it recognises that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development which requires a collaborative partnership among countries and all stakeholders”. As the world embarks on this collective journey, FIG and its well-prepared surveyors are ready to undertake a leading role. In
this respect the role of the six FIG Russian Members to create collaborative partnerships regionally and globally, is important. The long cooperation of FIG with all our FIG Russian Members (the “Scientific Aerogeodetical Enterprise “Meridian+” Ltd., the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography (MIIGAiK), Rosreestr, SRO NP “Cadastral engineers”, the State University of Land Use Planning (SULUP) and the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies (SSUGT)) is further strengthened through my visit in Irkutsk, in June 2015, when we agreed that all six FIG Russian Members will act as linkages between FIG and the local stakeholders and surveyors of the Russian Federation and, most important, will promote the FIG strategy, goals, activities, good practices and publications beyond boundaries, within all Russian speaking stakeholders and surveyors of the greater region, in an effort to contribute to the sustainable prosperity of all and to an effective protection of the planet. Within this framework, it is a great pleasure for FIG to co-sponsor the Interexpo GEO-Siberia-2016 event, an international event that provides a forum for professionals and participants from both near and far, to deliberate and demonstrate the use and usefulness of geospatial and surveying technologies, tools and policies. Open-Source Geospatial Solutions for Public Benefits is a key-topic for GEO-Siberia. Accessibility, reliability and affordability are the key words for public benefit of data. This goes hand-in-hand with the overall theme for the work of FIG for 2015-18: “Ensuring the Rapid Response to Change - Ensuring the Surveyor of Tomorrow”, which you have endorsed with such enthusiasm.
I wish all delegates, participants as well as the organizers, supporters and sponsors useful discussions, debates and deliberations during the days of GEO-Siberia 2016.
Dr. Chryssy Potsiou FIG President

Greetings to the participants of Interexpo GEO-Siberia 2016
It is with great pleasure I do send my greetings to the organizers and participants of the renowned 12th International exhibition and scientific forum “Interexpo GEO- Siberia-2016” to be held in spring 2016 at the Novosibirsk Expo Centre. The International Cartographic Association has been involved over many years and has participated in the program. Also in 2016 we will be represented and our Commission on Cartography in Early Warning and Crisis Management will co-organize a workshop on the timely topic Big Data.
The aim of the International Cartographic Association is to promote the discipline and profession of cartography internationally. It offers its expertise and knowledge of technical developments to other organizations via events, meetings, workshops, and publications. With its Commissions and Working Groups it concentrates it activities on wide range of topics that nearly cover the whole discipline.
Our 2016 activities will focus on the International Map Year (http://mapyear.org). Hopefully the spirit of the map will also be clearly visible in Novosibirsk. One of our events will be a cartographic exhibition at the UN-GGIM meeting in New York were ICA will present its cartographic perspective on the seventeen new sustainability goals as true a collaborative effort of all Commissions and working Groups. I would like to invite all of you to join the International Map Year but also urge you to get connected to one of our commission (www.icaci.org), or by participating at one of International Cartographic Association’s upcoming conferences and events. With kind regards from Enschede, Prof. Dr. Menno-Jan Kraak President of the International Cartographic Association
