    What is Critical Thinking

    Suatu istilah yg cukup luas digunakan dankadang kadang salah penggunaannya.

    Berfikir (thinking) saja tidak selalu kritis

    Definisi: reflective thought to suspendjudgment, maintain a healthy skepticism, andexercise an open mind

    Ada 3 ciri yaitu aktif, persisten, pertimbangan

    cermat yang selalu mendasari terhadapsesuatu

    Mempunyai komponen intelektual dan

    emosional.

    Hasrat ingin tahu adalah naluriah Manusia akan puas bila ia tahu apa yang

    diingininya (pengetahuan = knowledge)

    Tujuannya mencari kebenaranAda 2 pendekatan:

    Ada 6 langkahproblem solvingagar berfikirefektif.

    1. Identify the problem, (apa pertanyaan sebenarnyasedang dihadapi ?)

    2. Define the context, (apa fakta dan kerangka masaalahnya)

    3. Enumerate the choices, (opsi apa yang mungkin tersedia,

    sediakan 34 pilihan)

    4. Analyze options to find the best, (apa pilihan yangterbaik, semuanya dipertimbangkan dari semua aspek)

    5. List the reasons explicitly (mengapa kita memilih itu)

    6. Self correct (kita lihat apakah kita keliru ?)

    Are essential to the assessment of thinking.Yet most students cannot name a singlestandard they use to assess thinking.

    It is therefore important to bring intellectualstandards into daily classroom activities.

    One way to move in this direction is toroutinely ask students questions that requirethem to apply intellectual standards to their

    thinking.
