Acrow GASSGeneral Product Information

ImportantThe safe use and application of the Acrow GASS

system must be in accordance with Australian

Standard AS 3610 Formwork for Concrete,

Occupational Health and Safety Regulations,

approved industry codes of practice and relevant

regulatory authority requirements.

Any illustrations in the assembly configurations are

minimum guidelines only.

The combined use of the Acrow GASS system with

equipment from other suppliers may entail performance

problems and therefore requires a design check and/or

verification by AF&S Engineering Department.

Acrow can provide appropriate safe work method

statement for assembly and dismantling of the Acrow

GASS system to suit the specific design and project.

Safety WarningThis warning is to draw the users attention to possible

musculoskeletal disorder as a result of manual

handling during assembly and dismantling of Acrow

GASS components. It is recommended that users

of the Acrow GASS system employ and implement

appropriate procedures and control measures to

eliminate or control any risk of Musculoskeletal

disorder/injury while manually handling Acrow GASS

components. Refer to Code of Practice on manual

handling published by local Workcover Authority or

other approved and recognised guidelines for correct

and appropriate manual handling procedures.

Product FeaturesAcrow GASS Aluminium Shoring System is a lightweight

shoring system that provides a fast, efficient and

versatile falsework structure with the benefit of providing

load capacity up to 140kN. The primary product

attributes of GASS are:

• Provision of load capacity up to 140kN

• Light weight and easy to erect

• The ability to brace at 45 degree angles

• Can provide bay size up to 3 meters on light

commercial applications

• Ideally suited to “table form” applications along with

conventional strike and fix flexibility.

In addition the high strength light weight Acrow GASS

system is easy to erect and dismantle leading to

significant labour savings on site.

Acrow GASS Outer Legs

The Outer Leg extrusion has eight slots which allows attachment of Bracing Frames in multiple directions. The end plates have interlocking features that eliminates eccentricity. The spring loaded latch at the bottom of the Outer Leg provides means of securing the Inner leg to Outer.

Extension Legs allow to extent the height of the legs. Where used the serration’s on the edges of the end plates must match each other.4- M12 x 65 Grade 8.8 bolts and nuts with washers are required for each connection.

Provide adjustment for Outer Leg up to 1314mm. The stem has a removable nut restraint screw to prevent over extension and ensure minimum engagement into the Outer Leg.

To ease stripping of GASS Inner Legs when under load, the GASS Spanner locks around the collar of the Inner Leg and promotes a safe and controller release.

An extension arm can be provided for additional torque but maximum torque applied shall not exceed 1kNm.

Required Torque for a GASS Nut when loaded in compression with 140kN is about 1kNm.

The Torque of 1kNm equates to approx. 100kg being applied to the handle 1 meter from the leg centre or 50 kg being applied 2 metres away from the leg centre (i.e. Spanner used with an scaffold tube).

Do NOT use a hammer to tighten or release GASS collars.

Note: Care should be taken when carrying or operating the GASS Spanner at height. It is strongly recommended that athorough risk assessment be carried out.


Acrow GASS Bracing Frames

Each Bracing Frame is secured in place with four wedge connections. The wedge system has a visible feature for ease of correct installation identification. The top cord of the Bracing Frame provides guardrailing when Access Platforms are used.

Wedge connections

1) Ensure the wedge is in released position before it is offered to the Outer Leg.

2) The Bracing Frame is offered to the Outer Leg and each wedge is pushed up.

3) The wedge mechanism inserts the locking bolt into the Outer Leg slot.

4) The wedge is turned 90 degrees to engage the bolt in the slot.

5) The wedge is hammered in to lock the bolt in the slot.
