A VIEW TO THE FUTURE

Kym’s comment

Dear families & friends The school’s value: RESPECT The school’s vision:

To provide every student with every opportunity to be the best they can be.

Mission Statement: A view to the future- Gembrook Primary School is a welcoming and respectful community that

provides modern, flexible learning spaces that support a personalised, engaging and challenging learning program so that students will achieve the social, emotional, academic

and physical growth to succeed in a global society.

Enterprise Market The Senior Learning Centre students showcased their financial learning most successfully through the Enterprise Market this week. The students worked in teams to create small business-es. Firstly, they worked together in teams to decide on a con-cept. Then they advertised widely. Some groups even created business cards! Ann Liston kindly provided a session on safe food handling. The market was a great success with many busi-nesses selling out! Well done again to our great Senior Learn-ing Centre students- you all showed great team skills and per-sistence with your learning. Thank you to all the community for supporting this very important learning program.

Family Bike Ride Thank you to Tim, our school chaplain for organising a family bike ride along the Warburton trail last week. It was a glorious evening for a bike ride and the families who attended had a great time on their bikes and at the family picnic.

Transition 2014-2015 Next week the year 6 students will go to their secondary col-lege for a day visit. This is an important step in their education. We wish them well. Our 2015 prep students will continue on their journey to school with a half -day in the Junior Learning Centre. They have already had many days visiting the school. This year we have provided an intensive kinder – school transi-tion program with kinder students visiting the school each week for a session in the library. Students at all levels are par-ticipating in a school based transition program visiting other learning centres and participating in activities with the other students and teachers around the school on a regular basis until the end of the school year.

2015 Planning Plans for the 2015 school year are well under way. As always there a number of enrolment and staffing matters to consider. The national curriculum will continue to be introduced in 2015. The teaching team will continue to develop a high quality teaching and learning program that is consistent across the school and one that takes into account the students stages of learning. Science will continue to be a focus throughout the school. Grade placements and grade structures are finalised. This has taken the staff a considerable amount of time in re-cent weeks. Please find our school team for 2015 in the fol-lowing table:
