As a worldwide partner of the Olympic Games, GE has provided critical infrastructure and innovative products and services for the successful operation of the Games since 2005. For the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, GE is providing an Energy Monitoring System (EMS) which allows real-time monitoring of energy consumption in Olympic Games venues for the first time in Olympic Games history. GE is also delivering healthcare solutions such as ultrasound and X-ray to the Olympic Polyclinic to make sure athletes can perform at their best.

First Digital Industrial Technology at the Olympic Games

Energy Monitoring System (EMS) is the first digital industrial technology to be used at the Olympic Games. It offers real-time visibility of energy use and enables prompt diagnosis and quick problem-solving if a power failure were to occur at an Olympic Games venue. Installed at the Main Operations Center of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG), EMS is expected to enable efficient and reliable operation of the Games.

에너지 모니터링 시스템(EMS)은 GE가 122년 올림픽 역사상 최초로 제공하는 디지털 산업 기술로 올림픽 베뉴에서 발생할 수 있는 다양한 전력 문제를 신속히 진단하고 해결할 수 있도록 돕는다. EMS는 2018 평창동계올림픽대회 조직위원회의 종합운영센터에 설치되며,평창동계올림픽대회 조직위원회는 이 시스템을 통해 보다 원활하고 안정적인 대회 운영을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Powering the Games

GE will provide an advanced comprehensive power distribution system for all Olympic Games venues. GE’s leading technology will perform comprehensive functions including measurement, monitoring, control, protection, and switching in power supply and distribution. GE will provide uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems to all the Olympic Games venues, to help ensure that power will be stable and continuous, even during power interruptions.

GE는 평창동계올림픽대회가 열리는 모든 경기장에 최첨단 종합 배전 시스템을 공급한다. 이번 대회에 활용될 GE의 선도 기술은 전기 공급 과정에서 계측, 감시, 제어, 보호, 절체 등의 기능을 종합적으로 수행한다. 특히 어떤 경우에도 중단되지 않고 연속으로 전기를 공급하는 무정전 전원공급장치(UPS)를 대회 경기장과 국제방송센터(IBC)를 비롯한 모든 올림픽 시설에 설치하여, 안정적인 전력을 공급한다.

Enabling Billions of Viewers to Enjoy the Olympic Experience

The International Broadcasting Centre (IBC), which will operate 24 hours a day during the 17-day sporting event, will be equipped with GE’s comprehensive power distribution system including MV switchgear, transformers, and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches). Located in the center of the PyeongChang Mountain Cluster, IBC plays a vital role in broadcasting live Olympic Games to billions of viewers globally, and has over 6,000 domestic and international broadcasting staff.

평창동계올림픽대회 기간 동안 24시간 가동될 국제방송센터(IBC)에는 고압배전반, 변압기, 자동절체장치(ATS)등을 포괄하는 GE의 종합 배전 시스템이 구축된다. 평창 마운틴 클러스터 (Mountain Cluster) 중심지에 위치한 IBC는 6천여 명의 국내외 방송 관계자들의 작업장이자 전세계인에게 생생한 올림픽 경기를 생중계하는 중대한 역할을 맡는다.

GE Sponsors Korean National Skiing and Snowboarding Teams

To support its ongoing Worldwide Partnership with the Olympic Games, GE also sponsors the Korea Ski Association (KSA). KSA teams include alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, snowboard, freestyle skiing and Nordic combined. As part of its partnership, GE has developed a motion comparison solution based on PREDIX, its industrial internet platform, that can help coaches and athletes develop and review training strategies in advance of PyeongChang 2018.

Offering Optimal, Individualized Care for Olympians

GE’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) will be available at the Games to track medical information for Olympians, coaches, and officials who visit the Polyclinic or other medical posts. EMR gives clinicians – including team doctors – instant access to records they need, through a cloud-based system. With EMR, clinicians can offer optimal, individualized care for the Olympians to prevent injuries and help them perform at their best. EMR at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 will be available in both English and Korean.

GE는 올림픽 폴리클리닉과 경기장 내 의료시설을 방문하는 선수와 코치, 올림픽 관계자들을 위한 의료정보를 기록하고 관리하는 공식 전자의료기록(EMR) 시스템을 제공한다. 의료진은 클라우드 기반 시스템인 EMR을 통해 선수의 진단 기록을 신속하게 확인할 수 있으며, 선수 개개인에 최적화된 치료를 제공하여, 부상을 예방하고 선수들이 최고의 기량을 발휘할 수 있도록 돕는다. 평창동계올림픽대회에 사용되는 EMR 시스템은 한글과 영어를 함께 지원한다.

Delivering Quicker, More Accurate Diagnoses

GE is providing advanced medical technology and expertise to the Olympic Polyclinic, the on-site hospital in the Olympic Village, for athletes and volunteers participating in the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

GE’s medical technology available at the Polyclinic includes mobile X-ray units, diagnostic ultrasound machines, patient monitors, and one set of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System, Centricity PACS).

GE는 2018 평창동계올림픽 및 동계패럴림픽대회에 참여하는 선수와 봉사자를 위한 선수촌 내 검진병원인 폴리클리닉에 첨단 의료기기와 전문 인력을 제공, 선수들이 최상의 컨디션을 유지할 수 있도록 적극적인 지원을 할 예정이다.GE가 평창과 강릉 지역 폴리클리닉 및 보광, 정선 지역 경기장 내 의무실에 공급할 기기는 이동형 엑스레이 촬영장비, 초음파진단장비, 환자 감시용 모니터, 의료영상저장전송시스템(PACS) 등이다.

Raising the Sports Leadership Bar in Korea

GE also supports the leadership development of the national athletes and coaches of the Korea Ski Association (KSA). GE created GE Sports Leadership Camp based on its Crotonville leadership program customized for Korean national athletes, to develop leadership capabilities.

GE는 대한스키협회 후원에 있어 선수 및 감독들의 리더십 개발도 함께 지원한다. 지난 5월에는 국가대표 선수들에게 필요한 글로벌 스포츠 리더십 역량을 높이기 위해 ‘GE 스포츠 리더십 캠프’를 국내에서 처음으로 진행했다. ‘GE 스포츠 리더십 캠프’는 GE의 크로톤빌 리더십 프로그램을 국내 스포츠 인재의 니즈에 맞춰 새로 구성한 프로그램이다.

Sang-ho Lee, a national snowboarder in the KSA, said, “This is a rare opportunity to participate in a global leadership program. This program will be helpful for us to achieve the best results in the upcoming Games, as individuals and as a team.” Sang Hun Lee, the head coach of the national snowboarding team, said, “Personal leadership is a quality that is important not just for coaches, but also athletes, to exercise self-discipline and to dream big. This program enabled the entire team to become more spirited and reaffirmed the aspiration to become global sport leaders.”

프로그램에 참여한 스노보드 국가대표 이상호 선수는 “쉽게 접하기 힘든 글로벌 수준의 특화된 리더십 교육”이라며 향후 올림픽 경기에서 개인과 팀의 최선의 성과를 내는데 긍정적인 영향을 줄 것으로 평했다. 스노보드 국가대표팀 이상헌 감독은 “코치뿐만 아니라 선수들 역시 평소 스스로를 다스리고 더 큰 기량을 추진한다는 차원에서 내면적 리더십을 갖출 필요가 있다. 이번 프로그램을 통해 팀 전체가 보다 진취적인 글로벌 스포츠 리더로서의 자세를 되새길 수 있었다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
