Alchemy System

15

When Wardens Fall features 16 alchemy effects that you can mix and match to create powerful potions, poisons, and explosives.

Plants can be found throughout the dungeon. Players can choose to purposely explore their environment for plants or simply stumble upon them. Players can store plants in their alchemy bag by simply touching the plant with your weapon or hand. This process is automated to make collecting plants easy and efficient.

An alchemy station can be found in each dungeon but players will have to explore to find it. The station will activate just by approaching it. The alchemy bag will fly to the table to reveal all the plants the player has collected.

Most plants create more than one effect. Plants can be refined to a specific effect by either being boiled or ground, which eliminates auxiliary effects. refining does reduce the potency of the ingredient.

When Wardens Fall’s alchemy station can produce three potion types.

1) Potions—Potions are drinkable. Players can pour potions into their mouth to apply the effect to themselves. They are created by using the round potion container.

2) Poisons—Poisons are poured on weapons, and are useful when players want their weapon to pack an extra punch. They are created by using the thin vial container.

3) Explosives—Explosives can be thrown at the enemy or at the player’s feet. They are created using the square-based flask.

There are two categories of alchemical results:

1) Generic Potions—Alchemical results created from random ingredients, their effects melding together or layering on top of one another

2) Legendary potions—Alchemical results created from premade recipes discovered throughout the dungeon

Alchemy System

17

The components of the alchemy station are:

1) Cauldron—to boil ingredients

2) Grinder—to turn your ingredients to dust

3) Distiller—to transfer ingredients to container

To pick up ingredients at the alchemy station, point the controller in the direction of the plant until it highlights and hold the grip button while the plant flies to your hand. To drop ingredients at the alchemy station, simply put your hand near the component and the ingredient will be automatically dropped.

Page 19: Gameplay manual For Early Access Release 1

18

The most basic way to use the alchemy station is to put any plant directly into the distiller in their raw form. Alternatively, you can refine raw plants to eliminate auxiliary effects by putting plants into either the cauldron or the grinder first. After refining, move ingredients to the distiller.

To finish the potion, place desired container inside the small interaction box next to the distiller. the distiller will automatically empty contents into container. The three container options are (1) round potion for a potion, (2) thin vial for a poison, or (3) square-based flask for an explosive.

How to use the potion:

potions—when holding the round potion, tilt into your mouth and hold the trigger to drink.

Poisons—When holding the thin vial, turn vial upside down, approach a weapon until it highlights, and then hold the trigger to apply the poison.

Flasks—When holding the square-based flask, press and hold the trigger. Then make a throwing motion while releasing the trigger, to throw the flask in the direction you want. [Warning: please make sure your wrist strap is properly fastened to your arm.]
