This service is regulated by Ministry of Education and Science, through the General Directorate for Schools (DGEstE)

TARGET GROUP:
Children and youths with disabilities, according to
the Decree - Law Nº 3/2008, of January 7,
attending regular public school, aged between 6 to
18 years old

Special education aims to promote educational and social inclusion, access and educational success, autonomy, emotional stability, and the promotion of equal opportunities, preparation for further study or for proper preparation for life after-school or professional.
Decree – Law Nº 3/ 2008
The Decree – Law nº 3/ 2008 proposes differents
educational measures for students with special needs.
The aplication of this measures depends on the
degree of disabilities and funcionality of each student.
Educational Measures
CEI – Individual Specific CurriculumThis document includes content leading to personal and social autonomy of the student and gives prioritiy to the development of functional oriented activities centered in the contexts of life, including the process of transition to working life.
PIT – Individual Transition Plan
The implementation starts three years before the end of
compulsory education.
Objective:
To promote the transition to post-school life and,
whenever possible, to carry out a professional activity
with adequate social inclusion, family or an institution
with occupational intervention.

PIT – Individual Transition Plan
In AFID we promote the frequency in two
facilities such as Occupational Activity Center or
Vocational Educational Training.
Students with special needs spend a period of
their week in one of the activities in AFID.
Some of this students, after eightheen, stay in
AFID as a client.

We attend 20 students to develop their PIT,
once a week
Examples of activities:
Occupational Activity Center
Vocational Educational Training – Gardening,
Woodwork, Kitchen, Kindergarten, Laundry, etc.
